Movie Night at Betty's.
« on: April 14, 2016, 01:11:27 AM »
I've started a movie night at Betty's. It will be mostly older & classic Sci-Fi. But it will also include some sissy related movies, video, or shows, & stuff that has pretty dresses or outfits in them.

Some of the very old, rare, or obscure movies I am allowed to play for free to a limited audience of only a couple dozen to a hundred people/views, so cannot make them available to the whole public or all of our visitors due to the copyright restrictions & bandwidth limits for video.

Others cost us around 25 cents per view to play, & may be limited to only a couple dozen views. So don't forget to donate if you think you'll use the feature a bit. If I see donations that seem to be a result of our movie night & videos, I may be able to extend the number of views allowed per feature. I don't think I'll run any films that will cost me over 25 cents per view to legally play though.

So the movies will be on a first come, first serve basis for our members only, to limit the views, & manage the bandwidth they need. Once they reach their view limit, they are removed, & gone.

If you are a member of Stories, you are not a member here. This is a separate & independent site. You need to register & join separately here to be a member here. Only members here will be able to participate in Movie Night, view our special features, & private areas.

To view our movie night & other "members only" private info or posts you need to scroll down to our private section near the bottom of our main index/front page for here. If you are not a member & not logged in here, you will not see it, so don't bother looking.

Our first feature is an expensive Sci-Fi one for us, at 25 cents per view. It is offered for free to you, but limited to only 24 views so it only cost me $6 to run. I pay the fee. There are no ads, data mining, sponsors, or malware to pay for Betty's. We don't sell stuff or sell for somebody else. We are entirely supported by users like you & out of my pocket, so don't forget to give your fair share.

I guess right clicking to save/download the video doesn't work with some browsers or settings. When you click the link to view/watch it, if you place your mouse cursor near the top of the page, you'll see an arrow pointing downward. Click on that arrow to download & save the videos. It will say it 's too large to scan for viruses. Click download anyway. If it had a virus, I would know about it. It was processed & compressed in my house.

I see they're getting some clicks, but is anybody watching them through, or just curiosity clicking, & backing out before the video finishes? The quality is the  worst for first couple minutes until your browser cache or buffer fills up, then it improves a bit more.

These are very low bandwidth streams, so you can be watching one device, display, or portable, while still having enough internet speed & bandwidth left to surf the web.

Like you can prop your phone or tablet up against your monitor so you can surf the web while watching the film at the same time. The sound was optimized for the tiny speakers in them.

I was too late to get in on the first couple, but I have watched the second feature of the second set and downloaded the first.  I have a pretty old (and not very good) DVD of the first feature but would like to see your more complete version, so I plan to watch it all the way through.

How long is your DVD? I've seen countless versions of it from 20-85 minutes long on DVDs & VHS, with all sorts of soundtracks. I think I still have a color tinted 85 minute DVD of it. Every few scenes was tinted a slightly different color. It was probably made to be played on screens in night/dance clubs. The soundtrack was by Giorgio Moroder on that DVD. He wrote most of the music on Donna Summer's first few albums.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giorgio_Moroder

I wish I could delivered it in the higher resolution version, but it's just not possible. The file size for the full 2.5 hour movie would have been way too large to deliver in even DVD quality. It almost didn't make it to stream. I tried compressing it many times, many different ways until I finally came up with a version that was watchable in a small enough file size.

At one point I was gonna give up & just use the 85 minute version, but really loved the new version.

At 250mb, it's a little above the file size limits I would be comfortable streaming. But it does keep it within about 100mb per hour to stream, which was my video stream goal. I can actually stream in wonderful HD quality at only 200-250mb per hour, while others need over 500mb per hour to do the same. But that's way above the limits I have to make it all work, & the cost per view they'd charge would be too much for HD. Some movies are legally not available to stream at all in DVD or HD quality at any price because they're afraid of copying. At 360p or less quality, or a 100mb/hr stream, I guess they figure if people really like it, they'll still go out & buy the clear version someday.

Even the 15 frames per second compressed version was very enjoyable, with the new sound track. I liked the new sound track so much, I may offer it in a higher fidelity version by itself. I'm considering adding it to our radio channels or our auto-play channel too.

The sci-fi feature in the first set was a remake of an older sci-fi flick. Unlike most remakes, it was nicely done, but is not anything like the original script. I don't consider it a remake at all, but just loosely based on the original. I will probably feature the original in a month or 2 if I can get the price down per view. The price is actually less per view if I get more than just a dozen views of it, but then goes up per view a lot if it gets over a couple hundred views. 360p or less resolution is also cheaper than DVD or HD quality per view too.

Using my 15gb free google drive to deliver them, they'd probably shut it down by using enough bandwidth to stream DVD or HD quality anyway. My servers might handle it, but that wouldn't leave much bandwidth & resources available for the thousands of people clicking all over our sites for other stuff.

The second feature of the first set you probably seen here before through Betty's YouTube channel, but it was better quality from our movie feed.

My DVD is about 115 min -- almost 2 hours.  It was the most complete I could find when I bought it.

I just added another movie. But this one is royalty-free, because nobody owns a copyright to it anymore. So I can leave it up permanently, & publicly on one of my YouTube channels for everyone to see rather than show it just privately to members only.

This one's fun because the boy gets to dress in the prettiest girl's circus dress about 2/3 of the way through the movie.

It's been posted on youtube by at least a dozen people, & I'm sure at many other places too. Even our friends at webarchives/wayback have a copy posted. But they're all real blurry, some are too dark, & most of them pixelate or blur even more on the action scenes. Almost all the parts of the boy in the dress are action scenes.

So I just spent many hours, fixing that, & enhancing the film. You won't find a copy clearer than ours on youtube. It may even be the clearest version of the film anywhere.

Enjoy!

I've just discovered the movie, Kathy O' is in public domain. So I posted it for all to watch on our youtube channel. Unfortunately my copy isn't very clear, & enhancing didn't help much. But it's there for all to watch anyway.

Enjoy!

I'll replace it with a better copy when I find one. It's almost impossible to find any copies.

For those not familiar with it, it stars Patti, from The Bad Seed. Not quite as many pretty dresses as in that movie, but there's a few, & she still wears the pigtails in this one.

I found out one of my favorite Shirley Temple movies is also in Public Domain now. Which means I can run & post that one public too, instead of just for members only.

My copy of it is fair, so I'm processing it up to at least DVD quality & maybe close to HD quality right now. It'll be posted at the youtube channel too when it's ready.

I just posted Shirley Temple's, "Little Princess" on our youtube channel, not at our members only area served from a cloud drive because it is a public domain movie free for all to see & use. It's on other youtube channels too, but you won't see this clear enhanced version anywhere else. When you get to the video, it may default to 360p. Make sure you select the 480p version to get the extra clear version, unless you have bandwidth limits, caps, or throttling.

Color, 720x579p, 20fps, 290mb, 91 minutes.

Enjoy!

There seems to be some confusion with our movies. Many people think our movie night movies are the ones on one of our youtube channels, so they don't need to be a member to see them because they can just go to the youtube channel.

Not true. There's only royalty-free, & public domain movies or video on the youtube channels.

The premium movies for our movie night are served from my personal private google cloud drive, dropbox cloud drives, or directly from 1 of our 3 "Betty's" servers, not on youtube. You must be a member here to see what movie we're currently featuring, get the link, & watch them. They are not for public viewing. Don't bother sharing the  movie link with non-members, because the entire movie is removed in a few days.

Most of the movies for our movie night are copyrighted, & cannot be shown or streamed publicly without the owner's permission. In most cases a fee has to be paid per view, or for the time the movie is available, or both. Our target is to get movies that I can show to about a couple dozen viewers for 2-4 days at a cost of $6 or less for me to run. So you won't see the new Star Wars movie there at a cost of $5-$6 per view to run.

But we also carry royalty-free, & public domain movies, video & music. Those will be on our youtube channels or served publicly off our servers for all to see, even non-members. Along with other stuff, our Betty Pearl youtube channel serves mostly sissy-related video or movies, & movies with pretty or cool outfits in them. We also have a second youtube channel, PSK Research, which serves non-sissy content of all sorts.

There's cool movies on both channels, but they are not part of our movie night. Only members can see the movie night movies. Because of the cost per view to run them, & time limit, after about 2 dozen views (more or less) they're removed. So I can't have everyone join & flock to the members only area just to see free movies. Therefore, even the titles of the film are not mentioned.

Besides, the surprise is half the fun.

Instead of procrastinating over what to watch, you just click & run it. Most of those who clicked on them, do watch them to to end... even if they paused or stopped, to come back later to finish it. But I wouldn't get in a habit of that. Once the view or time limit on the movie has been reached, it is removed even if you didn't finish watching it.

Although it is technically illegal to download our movie night movies to keep, it is possible to download them. Under grey fair use laws, you can download them to finish watching later, as long as you delete them when you're done. However there's no way anybody is gonna know whether your browser's cache saved them while you were watching them for buffering, or if you downloaded them to save for later.

We also play requests. The link to the request is sent to the user via our private messaging system here (also for members there only). This is a grey area where under fair use laws it is legal to share my collection with a couple individuals, like family, or friends. Most of the material I had on DVDs, & hard drives survived the fire. So I have a very large video collection. To share something requested, I usually limit it to stuff that's hard to find, out of print, or they can't get in their country with just a few people. However if it's royalty free or public domain material, I may just share a link to somebody else who already carries the film free.

Currently at our "Betty Pearl" youtube channel,
( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-noN--r7_wREFSWwV0XB_w )
the movies we have for non-members & all to view are:

The Little Princess 1917 - A silent movie gem that's unexpectedly fun to watch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1hGtybJwkA

The copyright scammers are claiming rights to the music that they don't really own in the movie again. I skipped the headaches of spending a month fighting the rights of yet another video. This time I just reposted it silent without the music to keep them off my ass. Just play your own tunes with it, our music feed, or one of our radio channels.

Little Princess 1939 - A Shirley Temple film with lots of pretty dresses.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOnmwkgFXM0

Kathy O' 1958 - Starring "The Bad Seed" child actor, Patty McCormack wearing a few pretty dresses.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8LJPboQ-zM

Peck's Bad Boy With The Circus 1938 - Features a boy in the prettiest circus dress (digitally enhanced by me).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmP37fheGdk

I also just added a pair of mixes of all the Shirley Temple short films from her "Mary Lou" & "Baby Burlesque" film series. 1 mix is the color stuff available & the other is the B&W stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOvdu4TVA8U

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKtqr1R4J5o

They're both are about 1 1/2 hours long. Many of them were almost unwatchable so were enhanced by me. But I couldn't enhance them too much without distorting the image & making them look strange. Some of the Baby Burlesque ones are a bit creepy or disturbing, & there's not a lot of pretty dresses, but it's all a lot of nostalgic fun, with lots of diapers.

There's also crossdressing clips from other movies, TV shows, plus slide shows of people in pretty dresses ranging from a few minutes to over 3 hours long, with fun musical accompaniment.

I'm regularly adding more stuff to the channels, so stay tuned & subscribe.

On our PSK Reasearch channel,
I just added, House on Haunted Hill (1956) starring Vincent Price after I discovered it was in public domain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BN5e73uFzQ

I'll be adding more, hopefully including some rare Japanese Sci-Fi.

There's also an interesting very visually stunning clip there produced by NASA, "Aurora NASA enhanced 720p". Unfortunately their version, a little over 4 minutes, was sped up too fast to enjoy & cut up. My exclusive extended version there is 9 minutes long & worth watching.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Z8RWIcbtQ8

There's also a few other interesting clips with more to come.

For our movie night movies you have to go to our private members section at
http://pearlcorona.org/betties/index.php?board=7.0
But if you aren't a member, you won't see our private section, & can't get access.

We've run 27 premium movies there so far, but only feature 1-3 of them at a time, for 2-4 days, or many of them, after they got 24 views, they are removed.
