Thanks Betty, that was a great film, sad and disturbing at times but extremely well acted.

Yeah. I only had a chance to watch about half of it so far. I'll probably watch the rest of it sometime this weekend.

Some movies, TV, or music I'll sort of watch or listen to in the background or on the side while I do other stuff or have other things going on.

This one I wanted to relax with & see when nothing else is going on at the same time. I tried to watch it just before my bedtime, & ended up dozing off halfway through.

« Reply #92 on: February 13, 2018, 06:35:29 PM »
I've just added episode 15, the final episode of the first season of the new Star Trek series. Season 2 isn't expected until 2019.

Our TV/video section has been changed to include private non-public audio, audiobooks, & books too now. I've just added an audiobook of a very popular 2018 best selling book, & the 1966 book, I Want What I Want.

26 Saturn Award nominees added
« Reply #93 on: February 24, 2018, 12:31:54 AM »
The Saturn Awards was originally created to recognize achievements in Sci-Fi films, a category almost totally ignored & neglected by the Academy awards, & Golden Globe awards.

Recently Saturn Awards also started having awards for Horror, Fantasy, Action/Adventure, Drama, & television. Also their definition of what they call Sci-Fi is rather broad, & hardly Sci-Fi at all. I'm disappointed, because there are already plenty of other awards for those other categories. The Saturn Awards were to celebrate, & reward Sci-Fi movies because it was ignored by others.

The Saturn awards are held in the summer. So the nominees for 2017 are films from the last half of 2016, & the early part of 2017. A few were released in other countries as early as 2015. The list of nominees for 2018 will be released at the end of this month, or sometime in March, but usually by the time the awards are held in the summer, they've changed the list of nominees a bit.

Anywho, I've added all the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Horror nominees for the 2017 Saturn Awards. There's 26 of them! I excluded murder & slasher nominees, as I feel they're more like a murder, crime drama, or slasher films than horror. I won't rate something as a horror movie just because it has a lot of blood or killing. It has to actually be scarey, not just gross or shocking.

A few, but not many of these we ran before, but these are now improved versions for their small file size. My custom conversion & compression techniques continue to advance & improve every few months.

8 - While on a journey of physical and spiritual healing, a brilliant neurosurgeon is drawn into the world of the mystic arts.

9 - The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.

10 - The friendly but forgetful blue tang fish, Dory, begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way.

18 - The U.S.S. Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy, who puts them, and everything the Federation stands for, to the test.

19 - The daughter of an Imperial scientist joins the Rebel Alliance in a risky move to steal the Death Star plans.

Funeral Parade of Roses 1969
« Reply #94 on: February 26, 2018, 05:38:27 PM »
I've added another movie mentioned by Andy at,
http://pearlcorona.org/betties/index.php?topic=1395.0

It turns out, I did have the movie before, & ran it here last year for a little while. I guess it got purged from here & my personal collection to save space & resources. After seeing the Funeral Parade of Roses again, I can understand why I decided it was one to delete to free up space. The ending was very disturbing, gross, & disappointing.

Still, if you like pretty Asian crossdressers, & a little bit of a 60s-style cult classic, it's worth seeing.

This time though, I have a much clearer version, & I bring it to you in widescreen BettyVision for better enjoyment.

24 Academy Award movies
« Reply #95 on: March 04, 2018, 08:30:58 AM »
I just posted American Academy awards, British Academy awards, & Golden Globe awards nominees. 24 Movies! It's pointless to list who won, because the awards are created, presented, & voted by the movie industry, for the movie industry. So other factors decide the winner rather than who or what was actually the best.

They're in the movie section of our private viewing area for Betty's Pub members, near the bottom of the front index page of Betty's Pub.

Hawking's Documentaries & Specials
« Reply #96 on: March 18, 2018, 11:13:30 PM »
I've posted some of Stephen Hawking specials & documentaries in our private member's area.

Stephen Hawking's Favorite Places 2016-2018
Stephen Hawking stars in and narrates this award-winning series, in which he pilots a Computer-generated imagery space ship across the Universe, making stops at some of his favorite places and discussing the scientific significance of each location. This 3 part series is only less than a half hour per part, so I've combined all 3 into 1 episode. This was his latest video, with part 3 scheduled for release in April, but has been rushed into an early release.
266mb, HD quality, 79 minutes

Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking 2010
(AKA Hawking's Universe, but not the 1997 PBS special with the same name)
In this comprehensive cosmology 3 part series Stephen Hawking looks at the entire universe, from aliens, the Big Bang, to the end of time. Nominated for 2 Emmy awards.

Part 1 - Aliens
227mb, HD Quality, 43 minutes

Part 2 - Time
208mb, HD Quality, 43 minutes

Part 3 - The Story of Everything
372mb, HD quality, 86 minutes

A Brief History of Time 1991
This is yet another biographical documentary of many. The title derives from Hawking's bestselling book A Brief History of Time, but the book is an explanation of cosmology, & the film is a biography of Hawking's life, featuring interviews with family members, colleagues, and even his childhood nanny.
142mb, DVD-HD quality (in parts), 68 minutes.

They're in the TV section of our private viewing area for Betty's Pub members only.

I have lots of Stephen Hawking's stuff. Come back to check them out after I process & upload them. All of these have to be processed for the maximum quality out of the smallest file size & bandwidth consumed possible. Processing is a multi-stage operation to get them down to these remarkably small file sizes, & still keep them looking good. But even uploading them in a compressed state can take a long time on my slow cheap DSL connection.
