On FM I restored a story by Mary Beth Sanford that was inspired by one of my dresses. It was gone from online until now, but I had a printed copy. If you look at it, please add a comment on FM.
invalid link removed

The link didn't work. I got this:
-
I'm guessing the link is actually meant to be this one <link removed> not sure if that other domain is meant to be used for shorturls for links or was a lapsed registration that got snatched up by one of those "companies" that try and sell related and typo url's to companies for big bucks and until then just load the landing page with ads and keywords to bring traffic
-
I'm guessing it was a failed redirect link, or a members only link that fails for non-members.
Also, although we welcome links to other sissy, ABDL, & crossdressing sites, even stores that cater to our tastes, links to other sites in forum form, & forum-style story sites are not allowed here. It doesn't make sense to advertise a site here that offers something the same or similar to what we do. BMW doesn't allow Ford ads in their stores for the same reason.
If the address was for a story site not permitted, it could have been automatically shortened, or abbreviated, making it non-functional.

Very well. I thought people here might like to read an old story by Mary Beth Sanford. But if I'm not allowed to pose it, I'm not allowed to post it, I guess.

Given my link also was shortened from the full name to the 2 letters it seems that it is not an allowed link though the shortening going to a bad site is worse than just not working so perhaps the rewrite rule needs a slight tweak so it breaks the link instead. I have removed the link from my post so no one else goes to the bad site clicking on it

The only error I could see is that someone posted a story at another site, then tried to post a link here so more than a few will actually read it. The system worked because it hasn't allowed that BS in well over a decade.
We already have the oldest, most popular sissy site & sissy story site in the world. Stories also cost me the most in servers, bandwidth, other resources, & time to keep running/maintained. It makes no sense to support the competition funded by large companies, stores, servers, ads, data mining, or a large team of "funded" techs with deep pockets. And where are their references to us? According to them we haven't existed in a decade anymore, & I've been dead a few years. Don't bother updating the mis-information about us at those places, you will be severely scolded. Then your post will either be deleted, or edited to reflect their mis-information about Betty's.

Everybody is welcome to post their story. Most will like it at our own internationally famous story site, that's been running continuously for almost 23 years.
We have the oldest, most popular, & highest ranking sissy or ABDL story site in the world, & it took us 23 years to get it that far. In the USA, we're ranked 11-12 times higher than any other sissy & ABDL site by google & Alexa. We're also considered safer, more secure, friendly, & more mobile/portable ready than any of them.
Why didn't you just easily post it at our own story site, rather than at site that will get only 10% of the views, then tell us to go visit the other site? Betty's was one of her favorite places. Just post it at our story site, that's what it's there for. FM isn't even a sissy or ABDL site, it's for any fiction of any kind.

I don't post it there because I don't know how to put photos in my stories there. In fact, I don't see any stories there that have any photos whatsoever. If you'll tell me how to post at your site and include photos, I'll be glad to post every one of my stories there.
-
All the stories have my kitty images attached to them. Some have images attached that were uploaded by authors or members too.
-
I just now tried to load a story, and use the image loader. The story is "My Summer as a Girl." I just loaded part of it, just to see. Unfortunately the original images are all at the dreaded "FM" site, so they didn't load. So I ask again, how do I load these images into my story? Have you got some place I can store these images? FM takes care of this stuff for you, which is another reason I go to them.

What you are doing is the highly illegal practice of hot-linking. You're illegally taking the image address off somebody else's web server/site & illegally posting the image at another site using img tags. You're stealing the image & their bandwidth off their web server. It may have been your image, but it's their server carrying & serving the image. You can't legally hotlink to the image in most countries without the webserver or site's permission. You should save the image on your computer as jpg, or convert it to jpg of a proper web size & file size. Then upload it to our site or an image server.
When posting at stories, or here, you'll see a place to upload attachments below the box of your text. If you don't see it, you may have set up something wrong in your member profile to hide it when you joined. Go to your member profile, & set it to un-hide the attachments option.
They can be jpg or gif up to 700 pixels wide, & 600 pixels high. Each image can be up to 60kb in file size. You can post up to 6 pictures per post (if you press on more attachments). However the total of all the pictures in a single post can't exceed 120kb. So if you post 6 in a single post, each one could only average 20kb. I get around that in our galleries by only posting a couple of the large pictures in a single post, but lots of smaller pix in another.
PNG is wastefull. Use free Irfanview to shrink or compress your images to jpg. You can also brighten or sharpen with it.
http://www.irfanview.com/
I use my own homemade imaging & video software to manipulate media. But Irfanview is probably the best, easiest to use, & it's free. Play around with a couple disposable images first to get used to it & experiment. You won't be able to post 250-500mb PNGs at most forums & privately/independently owned sites.
Don't hotlink. That's where you post the image URL from another site directly into your post. The source of the image can usually track it to us, & send me a nasty letter for hotlinking to their images off their server. When you upload an image to our site from your computer, our own servers serve the image instead of theirs. We carry the image for you right here at Betty's. We are our own image servers -- a rather impressive expensive array of 4 hybrid cloud servers.
You can upload images directly to all Betty's sites since 2002. Even on our old Starblvd hosts for stories long before that, you could upload pictures too. But currently all our sites use the same modified cores, all on their own servers. So all our sites will accept jpg & gif uploads into posts.

We're currently serving over 12,000 pictures at Betty's. Combined with pix at stories, avatars, & a large collection of astro/science pix at UncleGadget, I'm severing a total of over 20,000 pictures. We're also serving almost 600 hours of music, almost 60 hours of video, & about 21 million words of text.
-
Thank you for explaining that to me. We're not all as technically proficient as you.
-
LOL. Actually that's the way it's been done online since 1994 & old tech. It should be common knowledge by now, 23 years later. I deliberately try to keep things so they work the same as they did for everyone for decades, so it doesn't confuse people, & makes it easy to do.
It's sort of trying to learn how to use a phone, the TV, or drive a car in the 1960s. It was common knowledge, & easy to figure out. Spend a week to learn to drive a bicycle, & you'll never forget how to. If by 1990, your VCR was still blinking 12:00 & you couldn't program it to record something when you're away, you're weren't really trying much. The only people who can't swim are those who never bothered much to try, & ignored everyone who told them how.
"Technically proficient" would mean you can replace the CPU in a computer & overclock it, build a computer, fix or replace the components inside your TV, write your own software, hack stuff, build circuits, or at least rebuild your car engine.
Uploading or posting pix to a server or forum is about as low-tech & easy as making phone call or changing the batteries in a flashlight. It's not a new or complicated thing.
