Title: To Tell The Truth
Post by: andyg0404 on February 08, 2018, 11:14:37 AM
Hi,

Every morning I revisit my childhood and watch some old TV shows on Youtube. In addition to the Jack Benny Program and Burns and Allen I enjoy three old game shows, What's My Line, To Tell The Truth and I've Got a Secret. This is a link to the March 11, 1958 edition of To Tell The Truth. It's the whole show but I thought the board would be interested in the first group.

Thanks for sharing this link!

From my childhood, I remember an episode of the later version of TTTT (circa early 1970's) which featured a young man whose female friends dressed him en femme and entered him into a local beauty contest as a joke, only to have him end up actually winning the thing! All three contestants (the real guy and his two imposters) were arrayed in very believable drag. I've been hoping for years now that this episode would turn up on YouTube, so keep your eyes peeled.

That was a bizarre show for those days.

"Brought to you by Geritol." I don't know anyone who actually used Geritol. Was is a west coast fad? In later years I heard the version with iron was for old people, but I never heard of any older people using it either.

I'm sure the producers & censors had the crossdressing contestants act as butch & male as possible for laughs & so nobody would freak out over one of them acting a bit too female.

Hi,

This time it's I've Got A Secret doing drag. The first contestant's secret is that he is going to play a chorus girl in a college play. It's the same Wig and Mask Club that the contestant on To Tell The Truth dressed up for.
