Hi,
I just came across this comic book blog and here's a comic I'd love to own. It's from the UK and the title is Tammy, issue Jan 1, 1983. I actually found a site which has a trove of them for downloading but not this issue. The strip is Cuckoo in the Nest and you can see it at this link.

This is the description from another site.
“Cuckoo in the Nest” is one of the most bonkers stories ever to appear in girls’ comics. The protagonist is a boy! Moreover, Leslie (that’s his name) is a boy who has to disguise himself as a girl (how many times have you seen that in girls’ comics?). It’s for the sake of his uncle, who is trying to cover up that he used funds an aunt sent for boarding school fees to treat Leslie instead. To make things even more complicated, the aunt had the mistaken belief that her nephew was a niece and the school was for girls. Hence the (not very good) girl’s disguise, which the nosy Sarah Mullins discovered when the school broke up for holidays. Fortunately a measles quarantine has delayed Sarah’s return to school where she is just dying to tell everyone about their having a boy disguised as a girl. But of course the quarantine won’t last forever.
Any of our UK friends remember this?

Hey Andy, nice & funny piece. I remember Tammy very well, my sisters used to get it regularly. It would be nice if it was a true story and it could well be (my memory isn't what it used to be ...), but I have my suspicions it is a masterful work of art by one of our kindred friends. Having said that, I only remember the ones from the early 70's. It used to be a must but for teenage and preteen girls back then, along with others like Misty, Jinty, Girl & Belle to name but a few.
I happened across a Flickr page a while ago dedicated to these magazines. I'll see if I have the link somewhere ....

Hi Ace,
I think it's legitimate, it appears in several different places and was referenced in a compendium of crossdressing in different media. On this link it looks to have been reprinted although it doesn't say it's a reprint as it did for two other stories. Also, the artist and writer credited are legitimate creators. Ah well, regardless, as I always say, this is a fantasy board.

This si quite genuine. I deal in books and ephemera in the UK and I'll keep an eye out for one. I remember a comic - I think it was Dandy - in the late 50s/early 60s that included an image of the protagonist forcibly babified. I remember how fascinated I was by that!

Hi Sandra B, I remember a Dandy or perhaps Beezer with something like that in the late 50's or early 60's and I too was fascinated by it. My aunt would send me copies of my favourites to Canada after we moved here in 1957. I got both the paper copies and the hardcover ones and my sister got Bunty I think it was. She was our favourite aunt and we were her favourite niece and nephew for all of her life. She would come to Canada to visit us twice a year in summer and again for Christmas and would give us a place to stay when we went back to England for visits often taking us touring the countryside. She loved to travel and I often imagined myself in Travels With My Aunt as her niece although I don't think she ever knew about my girly side or at least she never said anything.
