I find classic girls dresses are so much better than the "mini me" clothes a lot of modern mums dress their children in now. He is an interesting story, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3185839/Woman-showcases-largest-collection-vintage-clothes-brought-fashion-Duchess-Cambridge-calls-grandchildren-model-them.html

Nice! I have always had a weakness for smocking; the girls' dresses are gorgeous, as are the smocked outfits worn by the youngest boy -- who apparently can't seem to get the straps on his shoes fastened.

I couldn't agree more. Let children be children and not have to grow up too soon. I love everything about these pictures. The dresses are perfect, and as you say the little boys romper is also good. The prams add the finishing touch.

The older styles are so much prettier. Many modern dresses seem like they just cut some openings for a head & arms into a sack. The dresses shown in the article are not that old or rare in small girl's sizes though, just not common in regular department stores. One can still find those kind of dresses brand new in children's sizes if you shop around. The extra frilly ones are the rare ones.

Not really "classics", but the recent trend in spanish girls dresses always reminds me of the little girl dresses that were around in my youth (and the ones I so wanted to wear). Here's a couple .... but google spanish girls dresses for heaps more ..

Ace,the Spanish girls dresses are a delight. They are always so short to show off the frilled underwear. I can understand why you would have wanted to wear them when younger. I would be happy to wear and adult version now.
