Title: Video: "I'm A Boy"
Post by: Robyn Jodie on October 10, 2020, 10:39:44 AM
This has probably been posted before, since the video has been on Youtube since 2012 (you can tell by the low video quality).

After the success "Tommy" the rock group "The Who" was going to make another opera, this one set in the far future where you deposit your genetic material at a "family center," then when you're ready to have a child, you place your order and 9 months later they bring you your very own baby girl or boy...or two...or...four.  The story was about the woes of a boy who was delivered with three girls by mistake when the family ordered four girls...

The project was scrapped but the song "I'm a Boy" was released and enjoyed some popularity in the UK although I don't believe I ever heard it in the US.  Anyway, here's a fun interpretation of the song in a video...

Robyn Jodie,

Thank you for the link. I enjoyed the video and it reminds me of my childhood, but in a different way. I was an only child and we lived in a rural area. The only other children in my generation who lived close by were my female cousins, with the youngest at least 5 years older.

Sometimes when I was very young my mother would take me to the house of one of 2 aunts who lived close by so they with the help of their daughters would take care of me for several hours. At least one cousin told me that at that time that they would dress me in their outgrown clothes while playing.

When I was just a little older before I remember at holiday times like Christmas and Easter I was jealous of my cousins when they got to wear pretty dresses to church and I was stuck wearing dumb old boy clothes.

Thanks, I remember this from long ago. I think saved it. But with about 10TB of hard drives, & well over 1,000 data DVDs & regular DVDs (for long term storage & backups that will keep for decades I use data DVDs), who knows where the video it is. It could be buried in countless other music videos, or loads of video shorts. Being sissy related, it may even be in encrypted, & password protected zip folders somewhere. I think I saved it in DVD quality, not in poor 240p VHS. I don't remeber it being this poor quality.

Back when they came out with stand alone DVD recorders I stopped using VHS tape, even for recording off TV. Before recordable DVDs, I was already recording & saving in DVD quality on super-VHS. Anything saved on tapes (plus my vinyl records & CDs) was burned up in the fire, but the hard drives, & almost all the DVDs survived the inferno, being totally drenched in steaming dirty water. 1 of my super-VHS recorders & 1 DVD recorder were at work at the time, so they also survived.

It's been many years since I used the stand alone recorders. Everything is done on my computers now, & video cameras record on SD cards.
