Just got hit with a cat toy. When dropping it on or near me doesn't get me to play, they think hitting me with it might work.
Another thing they'll try is to paw my hand or rub their face on it when I'm using the mouse so I click on stuff I don't want to. They've also figured out that reaching up to my reading glasses with their paws & pulling the glasses right off me will get my attention too.
They've learned that taking off my glasses usually means break, stretch, & petting time. As soon as I take off my reading glasses the come close & start purring.
