Faster than gravity: When a cat knocks something over, they can run clear across the apartment & under the bed before it hits the ground.
They were poking at the broom standing in the corner. It starts to fall over, they look up at it as it starts to fall... Zoom! Fast as lightning, they're outta there & under the bed before the broom handle hits the floor.
