Thank you for posting these images--great finds. Going back to the days when young boys were often kept in petticoats and dresses, I always wondered what determined the proper age for "breeching" a boy. I had read that one reason for keeping young boys in dresses was that it was easier to tend to them if they were still in diapers. Yet I've seen several photos of boys still in dresses who appeared on the brink of puberty. My own feeling was that if the wife was the dominant partner in the marriage, the longer the boy (or boys) stayed in dresses.
