I ran into this Australian site: http://doitinadress.com.
Apparently they are trying to raise money to help girls in Sierra Leone get an education, and they have an annual fund drive in October. Part of the fund raising activities are to have people sponsor you to "do it in a dress" -- like run a marathon or whatever (they have a list of suggestions).
The interesting thing is that part of the "kit" they send out ($30 -- I presume that's $30 AU), includes a schoolgirl's uniform dress -- in ladies' and men's sizes up to XL (with XXL, etc. available for an additional price).

What if you wanted to use your own choice of dress?
-
That is one ugly dress.
-
I think it needs long white socks and mary jane shoes.
-
to: Celeste,
It's a school uniform dress. I thought there was an unwritten law that they had to be ugly. I think that's one reason the guys in the picture are willing to wear them.
to: sissybaby34,
Absolutely agree, although I personally would go for ankle socks rather than knee socks.
-
I think the pink dress is kind of cute, however, he does need "white" socks and maybe maryjane shoes. I love the collar on this dress; it looks like a Peter Pan style just a bit.
-
I've seen lots of school uniforms, but those are the ugliest I ever saw.
-
The funny thing is, after snooping around the site I think they may be the actual school uniforms worn by the girls in Sierra Leone -- or by some of the Australian women at the site when they were actually in school. I do agree that they're rather ugly (I'd say they're pretty ugly, but that sounds oxymoronic).

Standard Australian school "Summer" wear - for girls that is. ::)
The winter uniforms are more "traditional"

Ace:
Those summer outfits look a bit heavy/warm and out of place for summer wear - "BUT" then it occured to me that the seasons are opposite of
what we have in the northern hemisphere.
So in that respect we are going into Spring and then Summer while the Australians are going from Summer into Autumn and therefore
the climate change would require something warmer.
Still puzzling is the whole of Australia is closer to the equator and does not have the cold weather extremes the continental USA 48 does.
But then UNIFORMS are UNIFORMS and everything must be UNIFORM aye what say ?

Hey BabyLock,
We are currently at the hottest month of the year. Summer "Officially" ends end of this month, but it won't get cooler until around June-Aug.
At the risk of being contradicted, I think you'll find Australia is a similar (if not bigger) size than continental USA. The Northern coastline is 10 degrees south of the equator to Tasmania which is about 45 degrees south. The temerature ranges from arid desert through tropical rainforest to snowfall in the snowy and alpine regions in mid winter. Where I live in Sydney it regularly gets down to 1 or 2 degrees centigrade overnight, but daytime in winter gets to around 18-22.
The school dresses show in the doitinadress site (and worn by the guys) are generally worn in the hotter months, while the one I posted is from the winter school terms, end April to Sept. They do of course vary from state to state.
Either way, I still prefer the catholic school uniforms ;D

Contiguous USA (the lower 48 states) are 7,663,941.7 sq km - that's only 84% of the total for the whole USA, of course.
Australia is a bit bigger at 7,692,024 sq km
Close enough to call identical in area, I'd say.
