I've posted Little House on the Prairie caps before, but that was from just a few favorite episodes I had taped, & it was mostly of Nancy Olesen. When Nellie Olesen grew up & got married, her parents adopted Nancy during the final 2 years of the TV series. The series ran for 9 years... 10 years, if you include the movies.
Now I have clear versions of all the episodes. Although they appear to have been mastered from only 350p video made for USA TV, they look good for 350p.
The center of attention for most of us sissies was Nellie Olesen. Her mom always dressed her is the finest prettiest dresses of the era. Her blond hair usually had lots of full curls, & ribbons. Even her name, "Nellie" sounded soooo sissy. In the final years of the series, adopted Nancy followed Nellie's tradition of curls, ribbons, & pretty dresses too, much to our enjoyment.
The other girls in the TV show had some pretty dresses too. The plain prairie dresses weren't much too look at, but a few of them looked nice, esp. with all those pretty bonnets & pigtails, so I've included them too.
These first caps for this gallery are just from the first & second episodes of the first season. The series ran every year from September to June for 9 years, plus some movies, so eventually there will be a lot of pix in this gallery.
Enjoy!

They are very nice, now if i could just grow my hair that long ringlets would be nice too.
-
Oh yeah, being Nellie or Nancy was every sissy's dream in those days.

Ah dear Nancy, oh yes, not just the dresses but the way she used to try and boss the young boys around ...... "..please Nancy, I don't want to wear your old baby clothes ...don't make me <sob sob>"
:'( :'(
Thanks Betty, really looking forward to the caps ...
;D

Thank you for all the pics, Betty.
I do love the ringlet curls.
Always wished I'd been a boy in the 1800's whose mother kept him in long hair with ringlets!
-
With pretty ribbons in their hair & pigtails with pretty bonnets too!
This next batch of pix are from episodes 4-12 of season 1. Episode 3 was skipped because there was no interesting outfits there... only the plainest prairie dresses. I don't think this gallery will be as massively large as I thought it would be. In many of the episodes, the girls wear the same outfits as in previous episodes or just very plain outfits. In some episodes, although a nice story, doesn't feature the girls much or Nellie at all. Even in this next batch, we've already seen some of these dresses in the previous batch, but they're a different angle & view of them.
Nellie was known for her mom dressing her in lots of different dresses, but I guess not that much early in the series. Nancy, who the Olesens adopted as Nellie's replacement when Nellie grew up & got married, didn't appear in the series until the last 2 years of the TV show, so she'll be near the end of the gallery.
Anywho, what I did get out of these next 8 episodes are some pretty dresses, but I expected much more from 8 episodes. The other girls do grow out of their outfits from year to year, but the other girls didn't hardly have any pretty ones except on special occasions.
Enjoy!

Betty, thankyou so much for devoting your experience, resources and time in working on picture groups such as these.
When I was in the fifth grade I wore a dress similar to the fashions shown. I believe that was the stepping stone that helped develop me into a life long CDer.
-
Hey Billiejo,
I remember having a big crush on Mary and loving all the dresses as well.
-
Although I remember lots of pretty dresses in the 9 year long series, I'm pretty much disappointed with outfits in the rest of the first season. Many of the shows hardly feature Nellie much, & the girls wear the same dresses through the season. I don't remember which season or episode had a pretty dress in it except a few favorites, so I'm going through all of it eventually.
After scanning the rest of the first season for pretty dresses, I got a few more pictures, but not many. I didn't want to post what looked like almost the same things I already posted.
Some new & cool poses of some of the same dresses aren't too bad though & there's a few new interesting outfits. Pretty pigtails & curly hair too! After this next set, we're on to season 2, & hopefully some more new dresses.
Enjoy!

OK people. You're doing it again!
I hate to keep repeating myself, but I guess too many people are to thick to get it the first few times.
The vast majority of the people visiting our gallery threads, are ONLY visiting the LAST page of the gallery for the newest pictures, assuming all the previous pages of a gallery are all pictures they've already seen.
So I remind everyone again. Usually when I post or add a set of pictures to a gallery thread, it's usually more than one page of pictures per set that day. So by only visiting the last page of this or our other galleries to just see the new stuff, you're missing at least half or more of the new pictures posted that day.
Worst yet, the first pictures of the set for that day are usually the largest, highest resolution, best pictures of that set.
By visiting just only the last page of this or our galleries, & ignoring the previous page or 2 before them, you're usually missing the best part of that set. On this thread for instance, the last set of pictures I posted that day is 2 pages long. The most recent pictures of the set were on PAGE 5 & PAGE6 not just on page 6. Hardly anybody is even bothering to look at the ones on page 5... the best ones of this recent set.
Scroll down to the end of a gallery page, & click on the number for the previous page too! Almost 3/4 of you are just clicking on the last page (page 6) of this gallery, & missed all the best, new pictures of the set that are on page 5.

I went through half of the second season of the series, & they still haven't got new dresses for the girls. Still got some more nice caps of them in dresses, curls & pigtails though, & there's nice cap from a dream & daydream sequence of them in white dresses.
This is all I got worth capturing from the second year, episodes 1-11.
Enjoy!

With hardly any new dresses & hair styles in the second year of the series, there wasn't much of left that was interesting to capture. So here's what's left that was worth capturing from that year.
After this, we're on to the third year of the series.

Thanks Betty,
we probably need more church scenes, that seems to be when the pretties are rolled out ... :D
Love the swing pic, those "crowded petties" deserve to be on display don't they :-\
Thanks again for capping all these Betty, and don't forget folks, check out the other pages as well!
-
Oh yeah, I'm paying attention to the school & church scenes... that's where I remember a lot of the pretty dresses from. The problem is, I'm already up to episode #4 of the third season, & most of the girls are still wearing the same dresses I already posted plenty of captures of from the first season. Sure, lots of pictures of them in different poses in curls & pigtails is fun, but at one point it all starts to look the same without any wardrobe changes.
Now I understand why I didn't originally save every episode. Nice stories, but I'm on the third year now & everything still looks the same. At around 22 episodes per year, for 9 years it's a lot of material to save... over 150 hours worth, plus a few full length movies of the series. That would have been a lot of tape or DVDs to save in the old days.

A lot of the same dresses through the rest of the 3rd year of the series. Still, you gotta love some of the ruffles, trims, puffed sleeves, bonnets, curls, & braided pigtails... even if most of those prairie dresses aren't very frilly, & a bit bland.
Here's the few interesting shots of the rest of the third year. Maybe we'll have more interesting outfits & hair in the forth year of the series.
Enjoy.

I'm up to Season #4 & Episode 10. They still haven't gotten the girls new dresses. At their forth year, they should have grown out of some of them. So I think they just re-make or modify the same dresses to fit the kids at they grow grow bigger.
Except for special occasions, & guest kids, I suspect we will see the girls mostly in the same plain prairie dresses until Nancy Olsen joins the show during it's last couple of years of airing.
Here's what I got so far from season 4 worth posting.
Enjoy.

Just finished caps up to episode 16 of the fourth year. Still not many new or fancy dresses to capture. Just mostly similar prairie dresses, & pigtails. Nothing fancy, but I'll bet they'd be fun lounging around the house in anyway. We also got a boy in a girl's wig in this set. I guess they couldn't find a qualified dark skinned boy actor with long hair to play a Native American, so they put a girl's wig on one. We can daydream that a dress goes on later.
Enjoy!

Well, we're finally over halfway through the series with these latest video captures. I just finished going through & processing all the interesting captures of series 5, episodes 1-13. With 9 years of the series, we don't have too much further to go until we see Nancy Olsen & her very pretty dresses it the final 2 years of the show.
There's also 3 movies of the show to capture pix of after we're done with the series, but I don't remember what dresses where in them. It was so long since I saw them, I don't want to spoil the fun of watching them by previewing them ahead of time.
Enjoy!

I just finished capturing anything relevant in episodes 14-22 of series 5 of the show. Pretty much a lot of the same stuff.
A few of the final episodes of the 5th year were pretty crappy quality too, so the captures aren't very big & sharp. Without a little enhancing, they probably wouldn't have been worth posting.
Beware, there are pix of school girls. So those who don't like pictures of pretty dresses, pigtails, curls, & bonnets, please skip this thread... maybe you should skip this site too.
Enjoy!
