OK, I got all the missing episodes, including the ones from the first year of the season, & their pilot episode. In the last gallery of the show, I believe I only had 3 or 4 episodes from their first year, & they were VHS copies in terrible shape.
I now believe no matter what resolution advertised for sale or for free at You-Tube or the torrents, they are all VHS tape copies scaled to other resolutions, or processed in some way in an attempt to make them look better. Sadly all of them aren't even "virgin" VHS, but copies of copies to edit out commercials or other stuff. To make matters worse, the original Canadian versions were edited & cut to fit the Nickelodeon channel standards, & tastes. Living near the border, I watched these directly from Canada uncut when they were new. I was seriously disappointed to see Nick cut them up, & delete many episodes when they ran them on cable TV.
Many of the the copies I got, appear to be a better copy are the same VHS tape processed to look better at first glance. So wherever possible I'll be trying to process caps from the least processed version or distorted versions & do my own processing.
But the copies, especially many from the first few years of the series are terrible quality, even for VHS, but watchable.
I'll be processing them as best I can, but there's not much to work with. The good news though, is there are no more missing episodes, or cut episodes. There is also quite a few episodes improved by using my own processing from a raw video than ones already processed by others.
Here, I'll start the new gallery with a few shots from the first pilot episode. It rare to find even a watchable complete version of it. When you get episodes, they're usually 1 number off, because they don't even include the pilot episode.
Yep, they put one of the guys in a skirt in the very first episode. I just finished going through & processing it. All of the season 1 video is in pretty bad shape, so it was hard to squeeze anything worth while out of it. They look a little blur. I could have sharpened them more, but any more sharpening made the people look like distorted mutated monsters, so it was more pleasant to view them a little on the dull side rather than add any more sharpening than I already did (they were real blurry). I could have airbrushed to clean them up & added detail, but then you wouldn't be viewing originals, but rather something drawn over... it also would have taken a lot more time for each picture. Feel free to chose your own to touch up, air brush & post.
Enjoy!

Thanks Betty, I watched the show faithfully when it was first on Nick, along with Turkey TV and The Tomorrow People. It was remarkable how many episodes found the boys in dresses. I still have the old VHS clips and screen captures. Great to see pix from the missing shows. Lots of fun.

I already had episode 2 of the first year of the season. All versions are crappy, so nothing new here, except I found a version just a couple minutes longer than what I had, & a capture of an interesting advertising clip about the show. But I'll post all I have of interest from episode 2 so when the revisited gallery is complete, I'll be able to delete the old gallery of the show.

I skipped over a few of the missing episodes of the first year because there wasn't anything interesting there. In episode 7, a very little Lisa gets the green slime 5 or 6 times. She's wearing a pretty but plain dress. Back in those days we named that dress & a similar style one she wore, her green slime dresses, because she only wore them when she was gonna get the green slime. As soon as I saw her in that dress, I immediately remembered it, & thought she's gonna get the slime.
In eposode 8 we get a couple of the guys in tights, & one of the guys gets to wear a sissy boy outfit with silk shorts, & pretty knee high stockings.
Once again, the quality is poor, so there was no reason to make the caps bigger or sharper than they already were because they'd just look distorted. Even so, there was some tweaking & enhancing to get them looking this good. The quality of the videos is terrible.

Not much in Season 2 either. Just these few blurry caps of one of the fellas getting some lipstick put on him, a few cute bonnets, & a scene where they're wearing what appears to be table cloths made to look like diapers.

I skipped over a few episodes. There were a few funny scenes, but no crossdressing. There were also a few scenes of the girls in some pretty, old fashioned frilly dresses & blouses, but we already have pix in galleries of real girls wearing frilly stuff.
Here in episode 39, we have an especially fun but very brief scene of one of the boys wearing a nice pink dress. Unfortunately, many of my favorite scenes, are some of the worst quality video of the series. In this episode, it looks like a VHS copy of a copy of a VHS tape (2nd generation copy) recorded at the slowest speed (SLP), rendering the worst picture possible for VHS.
Even with the best enhancement techniques, there wasn't much to work with, so was only able to moderately improve the images.

Thanks so much for your work on YCDTOTV gallery, the pics are fun and I remember watching that show every chance I got. Of course I wished it could be me and now I wonder where these "youngsters" are today and if any of them visit here. Please tell us if you do "Kids" we would love to know you are visiting and perhaps hooked as we are on wearing pretty clothes. After seeing the boys in there pink Ballet leotards and tights I would often go and get into mine as well. Such great memories and just yesterday I went to my storage boxes and found my pink ballet outfit.
-
Several years ago I read an interview with Alasdair Gillis (the boy in the pink footed sleepers). He recalled how one time he suggested to the director that a scene would play better if they followed his suggestions instead of how it had been written. He said the writers apparently were not too happy about this change in the script. Alasdair thought the writers had exacted their revenge as in the next several episodes it seemed he was always wearing either dresses or diapers.
-
I didn't care much about the diaper phenomena at the time in my sissy interests. Even in the porn shop's magazines, the cross dressing, sissy, & ABDL material was separate back then.
It wasn't until around 1990 in newsgroups (the usenet before the internet), & our own usenet group that I discovered ABDLs crossdressing, or sissies with diapers. So experimented a little. So it was a learned & accumulated behavior for me, that I never thought of before.
But to this day my primary interest is still the frilly old style girls clothing, tights, & girdles, or kinky women's wear. Anything that looks real extra girly. But those big puffy frilly diaper covers & plastic panties sure look & feel cool when they're well padded.
Maybe it came from the feel I had humping a nice soft pillow in a dress or tights as a kid. I didn't know how to masturbate until years later, I always humped something soft. I also always stuffed a rag or towel down the panties or tights so I didn't stain the clothing. So I had grown used to puffy pants & tights.
Another interesting thing about the boys in YCDTOTV, is that many of them had almost sissy-like longer hair. It wasn't hippie or metal rocker styled, but looked a little more girly. So even in scenes or episodes where they weren't wearing a dress, after getting used seeing them in one or some makeup, you can almost imagine them in another dress.
There wasn't much on mainstream TV that regularly showed guys in dresses, so although sometimes it would be a dozen or more episodes before they were in a dress again, it was still lot more than any other TV series. Some seasons they did it much more than in other years too.
-
I had to skip to episode 73 of the 5th season to find the next crossdressing scene. Not a very pretty or frilly dress. Actually, it one of the ugliest dresses I've seen. The fella who's wearing it wouldn't have been my first choice to dress up either.
It was also a very brief scene, but this gallery would not be complete without it, so it's included.
It figures... This scene isn't all that interesting, but the picture quality of the scene isn't as terrible as so many others. It seems much of our favorite scenes are also the ones with the worst quality.

Betty, I know you said that episodes that included cross dressing and the baby outfits were few and far between, but it is still strange how they occur at all. Surely the writers, or one in particular was getting his fantasies shown on tv!
-
Although parents & school teachers would still punish boys by putting them in a dress, or punish boys & girls by dressing them like a baby in the 1960s, it was rarer by then, & almost unheard of by the mid-1960s.
So for a late 1970s & 1980s TV show to crossdress or diaper the boys so often, one does have to wonder what kind of motivations caused them to write such scenes. Perhaps the writers or producers witnessed petticoat & diaper punishment themselves years ago or were punished that way.
Sometimes they'd go many episodes without any crossdrerssing or diapering, or there's a season with hardly any of it. But overall, it had a lot more crossdressing & diapering than any other mainstream TV show ever had.
Yeah, I always thought there had to be a writer or producer that must have liked it for those themes to come up so much.

There was nothing more that was interesting in year 6 of the series, so onto year 7. In the first episode of the 7th year (officially episode 90), "Fairy Tales", the boys get to wear some dresses, cool outfits, & tights. Some of our visitors consider this episode one of their favorites, but the prettiest dress never gets a close-up, & the only copy of it is very poor slow speed VHS tape transferred to old style MPG & WMV of the late 1990s.
With all the time I spent trying to fix & enhance the images, they still don't look good, but they still much better than if you just freeze-famed & captured the image on your own. Once more, I didn't post them in very large sizes because larger images only made them look worse & showed more defects. Depending on the quality or what's wrong with them, I use different methods or settings for each episode or scene to squeeze what I can out of them. It's not all automatic either & each image goes through at least 4 different stages of processing when they're this bad.
I'm sure if i spent time air-brushing, touching up, & painting over every image they'd look even better, but I wanted to squeeze as much quality as possible from the original images rather than altering them into something they weren't. I'll leave actual alterations to clean them up to other artists who are willing to spend an hour or more on each image. I didn't want to alter them, I just wanted to make the originals look as good as they can.
This episode should not to be confused with another episode where the boys wear some of the same or similar dresses in closer shots near the end of the episode. I don't recall which episode that was, but since I now have all of them, un-cut & complete before Nickolodeon edited out parts they didn't like or to make room for more commercials, I'm sure it will come up eventually.
Enjoy!

Yep. That's a girl with him. I captured it because he was wearing a cool outfit with tights, but it is a pretty dress too.
Nickelodeon eliminated some episodes, & they also cut up to 5 minutes out of each episode to make room for more commercials. There were also a few episodes (mostly the early episodes) that were 45-70 minutes long, so they were edited down to about half the time.
Fortunately living just a stone's throw from the Canadian border, I was able to watch all of them in their entirety on Toronto's Channel 9 from an antenna, & even our local cable company carried some of the most popular Canadian channels. So if you only caught it on the Nickelodeon channel, you missed some episodes, & bits of episodes were edited down.
I stopped watching TV directly when they started loading about 10 minutes of commercials on every half hour of TV programming. Except for the news, I would tape everything so I could FF past all the commercials. I got better things to do with my free time than spend 1/3 of my TV & movie viewing time watching commercials. 5-6 minutes per half hour was bearable. when it got close to 10 minutes of commercials, many would just record it or download it for later. When you include opening titles, & closing credits, there's very little programming & entertainment left. Then in the beginning of many shows, they spend a few minutes recapping what happened in the last episode or clips of what's in the current episode you're about to watch. Many, after a commercial will recap what you just watched before the commercial breaks too. So a 1 hour show is only 40 minutes long without the commercials. If you eliminate all the opening/closing credits, recaps, & previews, it's only around a half hour long.
There was a movie on TV last week I hadn't seen in a very long time. The TV listing said it was 3.5 hours long, but the movie listing said it was only 110 minutes long. I decided it was faster & less annoying for me to download it & watch the file rather than watch it on TV with all the crap they loaded on it.
The entire YCDTOTV series spans 10 years, & 143 episodes. Even in small 144-240p VHS video converted to 240-360p WMV or mp4, the entire series is still over 15gb in size.
The 9 years of Little House on the Prairie series though, at 360p AVI & MP4, takes up almost 70gb because it's better quality, & the episodes are 44-46 minutes long. They claim the "Little House" DVDs of the series are 480p, but that's impossible. The early episodes were produced on low quality 16mm film about the quality of only around 300p. Then later they were produced on 300p-360p tape. So the DVDs were just scaled up to 480p, but are still only 300-360p quality. Although USA networks were capable of broadcasting 480p in the analog days of TV, except for big sporting & special events like a big football game, they rarely broadcasted anything above 300p. It saved on satellite bandwidth, cable TV bandwidth, & reduced adjacent channel interference on the satellite, & cable TV systems that way.
Most analog TVs of the era were capable of receiving 550p video.
-
Ah yes, commercials. I sure am glad I have a DVR. I can watch 3 to 3.5 half hour shows in an hours time now.
-
Before the days of TVOs & DVRs many already went to time shifting just to dodge commercials. The standard VHS t-120 tapes only offered 2 hours of video at the high quality speed (which actually looked good with a good tape on a good machine & TV), so one had to remember to change the tape if you recorded a lot & wanted any decent quality, & keep lots of spare tapes. Not all machines were created equal though, some had much better video quality than others.
Soon they came out with t-180 tapes offering 2.5 hours at the high quality speed. If you didn't mind sacrificing quality, there was also the mid-speed, & slow speed recording offering 8 hours of video on a t-180 tape. The 8 hour speed quality was pretty bad, but not as bad as those YCDTOTV videos unless it was a real cheap VHS machine, & well overused cheap tapes. In the caps of all of the YCDTOTV videos, we're looking at a VHS tape at the slowest speed, copied & edited to remove the commercials to another VHS tape, then copied to VCD mpg video in the 1990s, then converted to WMV, FLV, or MP4. But it's still the same copy of a tape, copied onto another tape, then to mpg, & later reprocessed to the other formats.
By the late 1990s before there was recordable DVDs, they came out Super-VHS machines. DVD quality on tape & professionally editable. They also contained a small memory chip. So when you freeze fame at 400i (interlaced), instead of it being 120p on normal VHS (half the field of the a normal VHS frame), a freeze on S-VHS was a full 400p. Many local news TV used Super-VHS or Super-Beta.
Even on t-180 tapes, on the slow 8 hour speeds, the quality of the slow speed super-VHS video was still much better than normal VHS on the high speed. They were unaffordable at $500-$700, during the first year they came out, except for local TV stations. But after a year, one could find sales on them for $179-$199. Regular VHS was going for under $100 back then (crappy ones for $49). But to get DVD quality or still better than VHS quality on the 8 hour speed I was sold on them. By 2000 I had 3 of them. I was lucky to get well built ones too. 2 of the 3 still run great. The 3rd one was wrecked through abuse when I loaned it out to a nightclub.
I had a WEBTV-PLUS unit that essentially had TVO/DVR programming & scheduling in it before they invented TVOs & DVRs. With it's IR transmitter, you can choose what you wanted to record, it would set the channel on the cable box or VCR, set the desired recording speed, & record whatever I wanted. With up to 8 hours quality super-VHS recording, in many respects it was better than TVO & DVRs because I can remove the tape to save the stuff, & put in a fresh tape, rather than have a DVR erase old stuff as it ran out of space.
Then after they came out with stand-alone DVD recorders I got a couple of those too. Because they also recorded on DVD RW, I could record over old shows if I wanted to, so I wouldn't be wasting disks. I had a DVR by then, but they don't have a way to save stuff permanently or externally. Indeed, if you don't pay your cable or satellite bill, or discontinue their service, you'll find many of those DVRs won't even run or play stuff you already have on them.

Wow. I don't believe next month is already back to school time. Where did the summer go? I'm relieved that July is over though. The hot humid weather with COPD, make it almost impossible to breathe. I had to stay inside with the AC & air filters running high to survive without hospitalization & or unaffordable meds/treatment, which of course, jacked up my electric bill to unaffordable levels. I had stay a "Shut in" inside avoiding the outdoors during July more than during the extreme cold this winter.
It turns out I can breathe arctic-like outdoor air better than humid 80-100F air. My upstairs apartment is unique where most days at 80F outside with fans in the window, it would get over 90F inside. A day over 85 could be over 100F inside. So the place wouldn't be survivable without AC for me. I do save a lot in heat in the winter - even more because I breathe better if I keep the air cool.

Ah yes the Altar boys, brings back memories of when my mother insisted I go to the priest and tell him I wanted to be an Altar boy. I was not too keen at the time until I saw them in their new white and red robes. Close enough to a dress for me so I signed up and discovered you could wear anything under there and nobody would know. At least twice that I remember I served mass on Saturday morning in the chapel at the local catholic hospital wearing only white tights and panties under my robes and nobody suspected. There were never many people there just some nuns and a few nurses and a few family members of patients so I got away with it. I would change in a small bathroom and the priest would come by car from the church already wearing his robes so we were never together. I often wondered what would have happened if we were.

There seems to be some confusion about our episode numbers. YCDTOTV is originally a Canadian TV show. When the USA cable channel Nickelodeon carried the show, they deleted a lot of episodes, & cut or edited episodes to make room for more commercials (or simply cut out a lot of parts they didn't like). Living walking-distance next to Canada, I'm using the Canadian episode numbers, which includes all the episodes, uncut.

Love the little white sailor girl outfit. I wonder where all these kids are today and if the dressing up effected them in any way?
-
Every few years I hear about reunion & autographing shows, or tours. From what I've heard about them they all grew up pretty much normal. Because they were all a few years above kindergarten age I don't think dressing them up for a few brief scenes for an hour or so for only a few episodes a year would have any profound effect on them.
However, even if they if like to occasionally dress up, I don't think they'd actually tell anybody or even admit it someplace like here, unless they wanted to come out & live like a girl full time.
Unlike many crossdressers & CDs, most sissies, although fantasize about being a full time sissy, most are quite happy just being one on evenings, weekends or vacations.
Here in episode 103 in the 7th year of the series, the boys get to dress like maids. Not exactly the best choice of a maid costume, but sure looks fun nonetheless.

In episode 104, "Luck", Dougie gets to wear a pretty dress. This episode was an extra poor quality VHS copy. It was probably a copy of a copy, of a copy recorded at the slowest VHS speed, so had generational losses by coping a copy. Using the slowest, poorest quality VHS speed made it all the worse too.
VHS wasn't normally this bad, on a good machine, with good tape, with a decent TV. A big TV in those days was a 23-27" "floor model" TV that sat 6-20' from the sofa, so the image looked smaller, but sharper & clearer. Many of the better machines & TVs of the day also had decent line scalers, enhancement tech, & noise reduction systems. So a well recorded VHS tape could look pretty good.
Unfortunately that is not the case with these YCDTOTV episodes. No matter what modern or custom enhancements I use, they're just not gonna look good sitting 3' away from a 32" monitor. Keeping the images small rather than blowing them up too much also helps make them look better because the smaller images help mask the flaws & distortions.
The enhancements definitely made them look better, but because of the very poor quality, they still don't look very good, just better than others I've seen.

To make it worse, they were probably originally converted to digital in very blocky & inefficient MPG in the 1990s, then later converted from MPG to other formats. Still, thank goodness somebody was able to gather up these poor tapes of every episode, so the shows weren't lost forever.
I actually had a few of my favorite episodes on Betamax, that were probably better quality. But when I started converting many of my VHS tapes to VCD or DVD, I didn't get around to the beta tapes yet. But the Beta tapes, along with a machine to play them got lost in the fire. It's a shame, because most of the DVDs, hard drives, some of the CDs/VCDs, & most of the VHS tapes survived the fire. So if I had converted them, they'd probably still be around.
Enjoy!

Some of these episodes didn't have the commercials edited out. I guess crossdressing was more popular than some would think in the 1980s. In a Fruity Pebbles cereal commercial in the middle of this episode we see Barney Rubble & Fred Flintstone in drag!

There wasn't much in the next 3 episodes, so I captured what little was from all 3 in this set - - including Dougie in another dress.
Enjoy!

There wasn't anything else of interest in the very short Season 8 with only 5 episodes for the season. So we're up to Season 9. Here in episode 116 a couple of the boys get to wear a skirt to school in a very brief scene.

Sorry I haven't been posting much media recently. With people finally making it to my town to visit, my primary computer drives just about worn out, doing some clean clones of the system onto a couple newer used PCs, getting them tweaked just right, & then catching a nasty stomach bug or flu has set me way behind on a lot of other stuff.
This next set of caps came from a video that is even much worse than most of these YCDTOTV videos. It took a lot of filtering & enhancing just to get them viewable. But to do too much would make them look like a low resolution cartoon, or poorly made drawing. So it's always a compromise of somewhere in between.
It's a shame about the quality, because in this one, we have Dougie in diapers, a frilly bonnet & bib. Would have been wonderful in HD.
Enjoy!

There was also a related Canadian TV show, "Whatever Turns You On," from which several of the early crossdressing scenes on YCDT were borrowed, including the kid in the sailor suit and "fisherman's" sandals (season 1, episode 7). I don't know if his audition in a "Shirley Temple" outfit (see photo) made it into the YCDT series, but I know Ross's putting him on television (setting him on top of one) with him in a velvet suit and Mary Jane shoes didn't. These videos are available on Youtube (playlist at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF76D052FEC824D9F) posted by the same guy that did most of the YCDT episodes.
I only wish someone had saved and posted the episodes of the short-lived "Turkey Television," with scenes like the boy threatening to report the babysitter to his mom for making him be her dressmaker dummy and finding out his mom knows and the dress is for HIM, or Vance Vain's little brother Jason getting ready for school on "Opposite Sex Day" and discovering that Jason has loaned out all of Vance's guy clothes to the girls at his school as well as his own.

It's so frustrating working on these digital copies of old poorly done worn VHS tapes of this show. Most were tapes copied off other tapes, then converted to very blocky MPG of the 90s. For all the time spent on each still video capture of the series, the end results is only a little bit better because the quality was so poor to start with. When there's at least a little more quality, it gives me substantially more to work with & the enhancements are dramatically better.
Sorry for not posting much. Due to lack of donations I've had to spend most of my time doing almost anything short of selling my soul or robbing a bank to avoid starvation & try to keep my rent paid. Still not doing well at it though. The rent was due on the first day of the month, & still hasn't been paid yet because the monthly server bills comes due again in just a few days.
So PLEASE donate if you want Betty's to continue to exist! We can't make it without a little help from everyone!
Having more setbacks this week. Then Thursday, a couple transformers on a pole about a block away exploded with several large explosions & flashes of blue light, then I lost all power as the pole was engulfed in flames & sparks. My power didn't come back on until Friday morning. Without power, I can't do most of my work.
Fortunately I had battery powered efficient LED lighting, & plenty of old rechargeable batteries that still work (even though most of the batteries are over 15 years old), so the kitties & I didn't have to sit in the dark. My neighbors weren't smart enough to be prepared & own a functioning flashlight. At night looking out my upper floor windows, every building was pitch black for several blocks in every direction. The only light in the neighborhood was coming from my windows. Occasionally I'd see someone in a neighbor's window trying to navigate by their cell phone screen light. We're doomed if society had an extended power failure.
I did the opposite, & actually shut off my phone during the power failure to save its battery power. Not knowing how long I'd have to go without charging it, I figured save its power for emergency calls only. I turned on the radio for the news but they never mentioned a word about the explosions, the pole burning down, & the blackout. So in case of an emergency, I guess we can't depend on the media to keep us informed. Maybe if it got knocked out by a storm, it would have made the national news because the weathermen would all want their 5 minutes of national fame.
Seriously, if some small town 40 miles away gets just 6" of snow it makes the national news that Buffalo is in a blizzard. But most of the news that day during the blackout seemed to revolve around banning plastic shopping bags, how cold it will be for St. Pat's day, & Trump rather than any mention of the explosions, flaming transformers, or the blackout effecting an entire district of the city... good golly, we are doomed!
I turned on my scanner radio. But because police have changed to digital communication along with some fire channels, & the electric company, I couldn't pick up many details on it either.
Because no power in the neighborhood, there was no internet, or wifi, & I don't have a data plan on the phone.
So the kitties & I spent the day & night cozy with classical music on the radio, while the rest of the neighborhood wandered around in the dark lost. I got a nice 7" tablet for free to review that I got to keep last month. But with no wifi on, & no data plan, I couldn't get online with it. But I did have one of my favorite Sci-Fi series loaded into it, Stargate SG1. So at the end of the night before bedtime, the kitties & I curled up to watch a few episodes on it before going to sleep.
When the power first went off, the cats thought it was some kind of fun adventure. As somewhat natural nocturnal animals, they were running around, bouncing off the walls, & chasing each other until they got worn out. Even with all the LED lights on it was a dimmer & different atmosphere than they were used to.
Anywho, the next couple of YCDTOTV episodes didn't have anything interesting on them. But in episode 120, "Cleanliness", they get to dress up in sailor outfits again. Not exactly girly, but definitely sissy-like.
Enjoy!
