Glad To Be a Girl
« on: June 30, 2017, 05:48:24 PM »
Hi,

This is an old article but I don't believe I've seen it before.

http://www.thehindu.com/thehindu/mp/2003/04/21/stories/2003042100460400.htm

The entire movie referred to is on Youtube but I confess I didn't have the patience to go through it and find the scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_QNN3Z37O0

I tried to do a quick scan & couldn't find anything resembling a boy or young girl in it, but I didn't watch every minute. There are a lot of adult-aged women in it though. I suspect this may not even be the film described in the article, or is a film made years later when he/she was an adult.

Confirmed. There are no kids in the film. The youngest in it appears to be a male about 18-25 years old. He doesn't resemble any of the women in the last half of the movie either. This may be a fake or exaggerated story to get YouTube clicks & YouTube ad revenue.

There is a 1979, 1985, 2002, 2003, & 2014 version of this film, not even including versions renamed Kalyanaramudu or sequels of the film. Of all the versions, I found nobody listed as Abdul, or Nihad in the cast. The picture in the article, shows the picture of an adult in the middle, who is also in the Youtube movie, but that adult looks much older in the movie than in the picture.

So I suspect that picture was taken around the time of the 1979 or 1985 movies. So Nihad would be in his 30s by now. If Nihad was in any of those films, it must have been such a brief appearance, that he didn't even get listed as one of the cast.

Except for in that article, & copies of that article, I so no record of any Abdul Nihad performing in any play, movie, or in the entertainment business. Indeed, the only reference I can find about any Abdul Nihad dressing up is in that article, & copies of it.

Surely if the boy crossdressed & played dual roles in a movie, there would be more than this single article & copies of it around out there somewhere.

I got over 400 hits for people named Abdul Nihad, but none of them mention dressing up, crossdressing, or being in any film. Pictures of those same people do not resemble anybody in the film.

Hi Betty,

That pretty much confirms what I found when I did my search for him before posting the article. You're probably right that the article is more someone's fantasy than an actual news article. If nothing else, he should be in the Internet Movie Database.
