Fingernails
« on: September 03, 2018, 09:20:36 AM »
As a child (late fifties-early sixties) I discovered my mother's cosmetics. (much to her annoyance!)
I quickly found out that make-up remover stung like hell if you got it in your eyes.
Nail varnish was very difficult to remove 100% and if you went to school with as much as a square millimeter of color on your pinkie one of your classmates would spot it and the teasing would last all day!(I swear I was only painting my bicycle!) yeah, right.
Consequently I have avoided nail varnish all my life. now i'm retired I thought I might as well experiment with some color as varnish remover seems to have improved in the last 50/60 years.
I was very pleased with the result and as I'm no longer breaking my nails every day (40 years in various sawmills) I decided to grow them. they grew really well and after a few weeks they looked very cool!
I invested in a couple of bottles of varnish
(salmon pink  and off-white for the tips) they looked amazing and I felt very pleased with myself.
Now the downsides. Dialing a cellphone is a nightmare I can almost guarantee a dozen miss hit keys before I get a wrong number. Now keyboards are becoming a problem.
This morning was the last straw, I managed to pierce the toilet tissue! YUKKKKKKKK!!!
My beautiful claws are now in the wastepaper basket.

Hi girls,

I wear clear nail polish every day.  My wife has not noticed (or if she has noticed she has not mentioned it).  I am to afraid to wear real nail polish but clear nail polish it is still shiny and it still makes me feel that little bit more girly :-)

Philipa x
