Dentist kills lots of animals for fun
« on: July 29, 2015, 02:37:43 PM »
Why can't this dentist do something constructive like shark hunting? I wouldn't want someone with total lack of compassion working on my medical or dental problems. Hmmm. A compassionate doctor? That's a rare find these days.

The worst part is that lions a very intelligent animals. This was an older collared nature preserve animal. He was used to humans, & most likely thought that they were his friends. This was not a brave hunt. This was a cowardly way to get a fancy trophy to show off to his phoney friends. He should be extradited to pay for his crimes. If we can prosecute kids for killing a turtle, we should be able to send this jerk back for punishment.

He paid a guide $55,000 to hunt & kill the lion. Wow, what a waste of good money. On my current tight budget, I can live of that for about 8 years, or live extremely well on it for 5 years.

Palmer pleaded guilty to federal charges in 2008 related to the poaching of a black bear in Wisconsin two years earlier. Palmer and others transported the bear, which was killed 40 miles outside of a legal hunting zone, to a registration station inside the legal area. Palmer was sentenced to one year of probation and fined nearly $3,000.

In the spring of 2003, Palmer was convicted in Otter Tail County in western Minnesota and paid a small fine for fishing without a license, a misdemeanor.

Palmer is listed as a member of the trophy hunting organization Safari Club International. His profile on SCI’s website lists 43 kills, including caribou, moose, deer, buffalo, a polar bear and mountain lion.

State records show Palmer has held hunting and fishing licenses in Minnesota, Florida and Alaska.

In a 2009 article on big-game hunting, the New York Times reported that Palmer killed a near-record sized elk with a bow and arrow in Northern California.

Palmer told the Times that he can hit a playing card from 100 yards with his compound bow and he eschews bringing a firearm on hunting trips as a backup.

In 2009, Palmer agreed to a settlement with the Minnesota Board of Dentistry over allegations that he sexually harassed a receptionist. She alleged that Palmer made comments about her breasts, buttocks and genitalia. Without admitting guilt, Palmer settled and paid $127,500 to the woman, who also was his patient. The settlement included references to his bear-hunting conviction and “substandard record keeping.”

This is just too classic; it figures he'd be a dentist, probably right out of "Little Shop of Horrors"!

The days of the Great White Hunter are gone. Just like child labor, slavery, burning witches, jews & homosexuals at the stake, or stoning people - intelligent, enlightened societies learned it was all very wrong.

He made a mistake this time? I don't think so. A black mane lion is very rare. There was probably only one around for many miles, & only one old or tame enough to bring down with an arrow.  He had to know he was going after was Cecil. There were no other black mane lions around. Because he was a famous, tame, older lion, he knew exactly where to find him too. He just didn't expect to get caught. They tried to disable the tracking collar, & probably thought they did, but it was still functioning.

This sicko has been getting has rocks off slaughtering lots or poor animals for no good reason since has was a child. It's time somebody put a stop to this cold blooded killer & locked him up so he can't kill anymore.

As far as hunting being a "sport", I'm sure some people feel attacking homosexuals & transgender is a sport too. Besides, normal hunters go out camping, hiking, & hunting for deer or edible birds to thin down over populated herds or flocks. Then the meat is saved to eat or share with family & friends. This guy is not hunting for edible overpopulated game. He's giving exotic or rarer animals a slow painful death with an arrow just for the thrill of it. Then he personally chops their heads off & skins them right there in the field as a trophy. Sick Bastard!!!

Animals die all the time to put food on our table. But to pay lots of money to enjoy painfully & slowly killing an animal with an arrow, beheading it, & skinning it, just for a trophy takes a real creepy nut job.

Our ancestors killed with arrows, spears, & clubs because they had no choice. But we do.

Some people are freaked out that we're upset over killing a lion when there's so many people getting killed every day. Yes, of course it's very bad to kill people, & most societies do try to bring the murderers to justice for their crimes. But that doesn't mean it's OK to needlessly, regularly slaughter tons of animals for no good reason instead. This is a repeat animal serial killer. Just because he gets his sick rocks off killing a shytload of animals instead of people, doesn't make it right. He's still a cold cruel sick killer who should be in therapy or locked away where he can't kill anymore.

I find it really interesting how attitudes about hunting have changed.  I remember when I first read "Robinson Crusoe" thinking it strange that the title character's first instanct when any kind of animal came by was to shoot it.  Of course that was the same kind of thinking that made extinct passenger pigeons, which used to fly overhead in immense numbers in the USA.

It was a couple years ago that millionaire dentist Walter Palmer sparked global revulsion by killing Cecil the lion.

But if the bow-hunting fanatic was feeling the stress of being an international pariah, he certainly wasn't showing it on the anniversary of the famed animal's slaughter.

Far from keeping a low profile, the flash 56-year-old was seen taking a brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo worth $120,000 for a spin.

He also stopped by a swish cocktail lounge on Thursday evening to meet a female friend despite a fresh outpouring of anger on social media.

The despised clinician looked relaxed and carefree as he chatted to valet staff and showed off his customized SUV before heading inside the Living Room bar at the W Hotel, Minneapolis.

'The guys were giving his Porsche some admiring glances and Palmer was happy to lap up the attention,' said an onlooker. 'He was smiling away and cracking jokes.

'This was not the look of a man who is haunted by what he's done. The anniversary of Cecil's death can't have meant that much to him.'

Palmer's River Bluffs dental surgery remained open for business all week in spite of fresh threats from animal rights activists - one posting on Twitter: 'Walter Palmer. Will Go Down in History As The Lowest Form Of Life..'

Another asked: 'Why is Palmer not imprisoned 4 killing Cecil Lion if he were Muslim he would = terrorist.'

Palmer and his family split their time between a five-bedroom, $1 million house in the nearby Minneapolis suburb of Eden Prairie and a waterfront vacation home in Marco Island, Florida.

Palmer also owns a 650-acre hunting lodge in Barnesville, northern Minnesota, where neighbors say he has a barn stocked with a menagerie of exotic animal heads, including a moose, bear, walrus and a lion.

His hunting has continued to rile neighbors there, with one filing a complaint that he used a pickup truck to herd deer illegally on to his 650-acre plot.

---

Feb 2017: Walter Palmer, one of the most popular dentists in Minnesota, is having a great night tonight as he watches the Oscars with Cecil the lion’s head at his feet.

“Just a quiet one tonight with me and my boys,” said Palmer. “I mean, it’s a little nippy outside. Minneapolois is -2 this evening, so it’s good to have Cecil warming the toes as we watch the Academy Awards.”

“People have forgotten about Cecil at this stage,” says Palmer. “Do you think he’d still be alive in the wild? Personally, i doubt it. Africa is a pretty wild place. He’s safer here, all toasty with me.”

Palmer’s friend Chip said: “Cecil has been around so long, that we just kind of forget about him at this stage. Is it wrong to say that he’s part of the furniture?!”

Meanwhile, Cecil the lion's brother was foumd dead last year. This summer another trophy hunter killed Cecil's son on the same wildlife preserve. Charges were not filed because hunting permits were in order. He claimed it was an accident & did not know the lion was a preserve animal & had a tracking collar.

If you're a real, true, sharp-eyed hunter, how do you not notice these large radio tracking collars & tags on these animals before you shoot? How do you not know that you are on or next to a wildlife preserve when there's signs indicating the preserve everywhere?

On this game preserve, the lions are almost domesticated. They're familiar with people within the preserve, get along with them, are well taken care of, passive, & tame.

There are plenty of wild lions far beyond the preserve. These brave white hunters deliberately stalk & hunt on or near preserves because they are easy prey. They're tame & more docile animals than the ones in the real wild environments. They deliberately target areas near or on these preserves, because the animals are more passive & friendly to people, so are an easy kill.

On a happy note, last summer another hunter killed another lion at the preserve. A few months later karma came to claim him. The hunter was killed when he fell down a ravine while shooting birds.

Delta, American and United Airlines announced they will no longer ship big-game animal carcasses, or 'trophies', for hunters who want to bring their kill home.
