I don't even get cable TV. But with my cheap indoor antenna, I get a little over 40 channels on a good day & over 30 channels on a bad day. On a good day I can even get channel 5 & 19 from Toronto & a couple French Canadian stations. Lots of commercial, infomercial, & church stations that I had to block, so only about 2/3 of the channels I get, I actually watch.
Back when I had cable or Directv & over 200 channels, there were only 18 I ever actually watched, & some of those were local, network, or Canadian channels that I get with the antenna anyway. So I'm getting more channels that I actually watch now, than I did with cable & satellite.
The only bad about no cable, is I have to know a show or film exists to want to watch it. I don't get to hear about whats on cable or stream services much. So unless someone mentions it, I won't know it exists.
99% of every movie, TV show or video ever made is available free somewhere anyway, if you're handy, tricky, & careful. But believe me, Facebook & twitter is more dangerous than most places you can watch or download video. Extra care should be taken if the source of the media is coming from eastern Europe, the middle east, or Asia. But I consider Facebook, twitter, social media apps, phone apps, & windows 10 apps more dangerous & risky than the rest of the internet & usenet combined.
Betty's actually got it's start on the Usenet in 1981. It started as just a small newsgroup on newsgroup servers in Buffalo, Toronto, Rochester, & NYC. The usenet is still a great source for free movies, TV, video, & music, but the procedure to get them, is a bit complicated.
Getting British programming & TV is incredibly easy though. They stream most of their stuff as well as broadcast it. So all you have to do is fool their servers into thinking you're in the UK. Easy peasy! I can make their servers think I'm the Queen of England if I wanted to.
I take requests. Is there any particular show or film you're looking for? I could probably find it unless it's very rare or out of print. And if I never heard of it or saw it before, I might want to watch it too.
