Older sissy with Enlarged Prostate problems

As there appears to be a lot of us reaching our dotage so to speak there must be a large number with leaking problems because of the prostate.
For some this would be a good excuse to wear a diaper/nappy but for many of us that would be a bit over the top so to speak. I have been wearing a Tena Pad and not only does this work quite well hygienewise but feels nice LOL.
What do others do?

Hi jeangurl, I recently read where the sales of adult diapers and pads has been at record levels and even though we can say it is part of the ageing process. I think the chemicals we find in everything these days may be partly to blame but I also factored in that we are living longer these days so many of our elders did not seem to have these problems as their lifespan was shorter. My mother lived to be 90 but the last few years of her life required her to wear adult diapers so I pretty much got used to buying them a few years before I needed them. I still find it hard to go to the checkout with a large pack of Adult diapers but I go to the same shop most times and notice a few more men than before also buying the products. I have tried the pull up variety that are overnights but they are not absorbent enough for me because if I fall into a deep sleep I don't get the urge to wake to go to the bathroom and I find I am soaking wet in the morning. I have found the Tena tape on maximum briefs are the best along with a thick flannel pull up from Kins then covered with thick rubber pants seems to be the best protection for now. I am due to go for a scope with my urologist in a few weeks to see why the problem has gotten worse as I have been on meds for a few years to help control my prostate. Just one of the perks of getting older I guess.

Hi Angela your reply was very  interesting and I am sorry you have a really bad problem with the prostate . I haven't tried a diaper at all but for a long Airline flight I have worn mens Depends which pull on like normal underwear and probably feel a bit like wearing a diaper but aren't bulky. Oh the joys of getting older (but beats the alternative).    I have tried all kinds of pads and I believe they are all designed for females but while some (especially the wing type )are too bulky they do the job for me and soak up the dribbles which is my only problem so far.

I have been to a Urologist and had scans and the finger procedure and so far only have an enlarged prostate so lets hope it stays at that.

Hi jeangurl, the Depends would be OK for traveling or daytime wear for the dribbles which I do get from time to time but mostly I am fine if close to a bathroom and I have used the pads. I also go to a site called the Powder Room for locations of good, clean bathrooms so I can plan any trips I take.  I have been on med's for my prostate for almost 10 years and went through a medical study for 6 months with my doctor for which I was paid a fee. The results were some great med's from a company from Germany but not approved by Health Canada as yet, but did provide me with a similar pill that worked for me at least until about a year ago. I think my problem is mainly my sleep patterns were erratic looking after mom for so long and when I no longer had to be on guard I would fall into a deep sleep with drastic results. I searched for the perfect pant/diaper so I did not wake up in a soaking bed but the really thick and thirsty diapers are pretty expensive so after talking with the lady that runs Kins in British Columbia Canada, she recommended the thick thirsty flannel pull up style pants and real rubber pants for over top. I had not seen these type rubber pants since I was in England in the 70's. Problem solved for now until my scope sheds some light on any changes my body has thrown my way. I'm not older, I'm seasoned....

Gosh, it's been a while now but I went through the prostate problems and began taking med's but I also had a checkup (don't put that off).  That prostate check uncovered cancer and it was late stage and a further exam discovered a fairly substantial tumor had taken over.  Surgery and chemo after that (the tumor had jumped the wall of the prostate).  That was about 16 years ago.   Meanwhile....

I remember a male friend discreetly asking first if I had to wear.... you know.... those things....  you know.... like babies wear.... you know... whispering diapers.  It was so damn funny listening to him beat around the bush trying to find ways to breach the subject.  We were in a coffee shop, I was no longer working, he was a truck driver going to and from Los Angeles twice a week.

I'd decided to give him the slow intimate details in a positive light and see what might happen and said yes, I wore diapers  We were at the back of the restaurant which was fairly quiet and somewhat discreet.  I told him I wore tape on diapers under snap on plastic pants because I could with some difficulty change them in an emergency if I was out and about. 

I'm not sure but I think it was Depends brand diapers and the plastic pants were  Salk Sanipants snap on at the time which were fairly industrial strength. I told him I wore cloth diapers that pinned on like the old fashion baby diapers at night over the disposables because disposables didn't have much material at the sides. I said the key to being comfortable in diapers was baby lotion and baby powder.

I wish I had a cell phone with a camera back then but then again he wouldn't have let me take a picture anyway.  The look on his face was priceless.  He actually asked if I liked them and I confessed that I didn't at first but did now.  I said they made me sleep more sound and wasn't sure why but they did.  I told him he should try wearing diapers for his trips to LA and I knew right then that he already did because he flushed crimson. 

He never really confessed to it but there it is.

Of course diapers and covers have evolved a lot since then.  I now wear the Tranquility Premium Over Night Disposable pull up for day time and tape on for night under snap on plastic pants with a layer of nylon (like rumba panties without the ruffles).  That nylon layer really does kept the mass from moving. I think I got those from Fetware but nowadays you can get diapers and plastic pants from damn near anywhere.  Don't ask me why but the snap on plastic panties are a memory for me.

PS:  Sorry I forgot to mention that I wear a cloth diaper over the disposable at night for added protection.  About 99% of the time the disposable is enough.

Hi Mary Beth, I understand what you mean about being able to sleep more soundly and it seems that way with me. I also wear a disposable under my flannel pull up for added protection. I have not used the Salk pants for some years now after they changed from a nice silky smooth plastic covering to the coated nylon. For me the memories of plastic pants are strong and yes I have more than a few pairs of snap on pants mostly for the same reasons, ease of changing and nostalgia. My go to pull up style disposable is the Tranquility Overnight for long term or all night wear but mostly at night it is the Tena Super tape on style diaper as the core in wider and more thirsty for a good nights sleep. I still have a few pairs of Salk pants, mostly pull on style but I did find one pair of Salk Pro Pants snap on style with the plastic covering still new in the box in waist size 32" to 36". I have not been that small in a few years LOL. I had one friend who asked me the same thing while we were still working. He had seen me bend to check something and he saw the waistband of the Salk pants and quietly asked me while we were having lunch. I told him I was so busy most days that I sometimes barely made it for bathroom breaks so it was insurance. He nodded but said nothing until the next day when he asked to see them and confided he needed something also. As we had been friends for sometime I discreetly showed him what I was wearing and told him I had some new ones coming in the mail if he would like a pair. We met at his home a week later when his family was out and he showed me he had made a pull on style pant out of some soft blue plastic and his daughters old flannel PJ's, three or four layers thick. He said he could not buy disposables as he was too nervous but liked to wear them when his wife was out and after some talk I discovered he did not need them but liked to be an Adult Baby. I gave him some pants that were too small for me and he was happy for sometime after that. I discovered some years later after I moved on and he became unemployed due to a factory closure, that while he was between jobs he spent a lot of time in his plastic pants only to be caught by his wife who laid down the law. They go or he does. About 10 years after that he was still married and still hooked on plastic pants but was much better at hiding it.

I started to wear diapers years ago.  When you wake up to pee 4 times a night, I take that back because I hadn't gone back to sleep from the last time I got up to pee; I started to wear a diaper.  I started with the inserts for dribble, and moved to diaper when the pad moved. I got so tired 1 night I just peed in the diaper and a habit was stated. I'm not a adult baby, but have become a diaper lover. Urine is sterile, and if you keep the skin clean there is nothing wrong with the use.  The cost of a diaper is worth the sleep.  I just release the urine and fall right back to sleep. Now it is just once a night, because Flowmax is a wonder drug.

Hi gunrunner, yes I hear you and Flowmax is a wonder drug for sure. Like you I sometimes get the urge at night but it is easy to just void  instead of fully waking up. One of the problems I was having was trying to make it to the bathroom in time but getting out of bed too fast results in me getting dizzy and I can't focus on getting there without bumping into a door or stubbing my toe so like you said just go in the diaper and wake up rested and relatively dry. Jeangurl, I am glad we could shed some light on a problem that is more widespread than people let on and provide some humor and answers also. The Sales reports on Adult diaper products as well as the number of companies now starting to sell various styles and items just shows it is mainstream now and maybe some of it is Fetish related but so what. We are on this earth for a short while so my moto is enjoy it to the fullest level. I quite enjoy watching Lolykats videos on youtube and she makes no bones about being an Adult baby to her friends and anyone else who is interested. She is a UK based girl who I believe is Scots by birth and quite often gets products sent to her for testing and her approval. If I was younger I would want that job.

Angela M, authostatic hypotension is a side effect of Flomax. (light headedness upon standing) Be careful.  It can cause you to pass-out.  The problem isn't so much passing out it is the hitting your head or breaking bones on the way down. Sit first, then stand.  If you feel light headed assume the last position, or go to ground in a controlled descent. Flex your leg muscles as you stand; it forces blood up to the heart and then the brain. BE CAREFUL.
