Yes gunrunner, most of the pills I take have side effects and it is hard to remember each one. Sure makes old age interesting. I worked for the same company for 42 years and while I often thought of quitting and even started my own company on the side, I am glad I stuck it out because the drug benefits I receive are very good. My meds cost about $1000.00 a month with the Government only paying a percentage.  A friend of mine just told me his Cancer drugs cost him $2000.00 a month. As a business owner he pays for private Insurance for him and his family and is now glad he did that. He was blindsided at Christmas with the Cancer diagnosis. My mother always said "Old Age Ain't for Sissies" of course I still am one LOL.

The cost of health care in the US is outrageous period.  I looked at two options when I was facing prostate surgery and wasn't sure how much my insurance would cover.  India which was about $9,000 US (including the trip) and Mexico with was about $11,000 (including the trip).  I spoke with several people that had done both.  As it was I had a copay of $5,000 on a $66,000 bill for a radical prostatectomy.  Chemo after that ran about $15,000 and I was lucky because it was short term.  I shudder to think of those that can't afford to pay and simply die.  I'm a Veteran so my medication is a modest copay but I've looked up some of the cost and it would easily run me $1,500 a month instead of $90 on pills that would be highly profitable at $1.00 each.   It doesn't have to be this way...  I think if every man put on a dress and protested health cost it would be one hell of a fun day in this country...  Why the dress?  Who wouldn't want to get out on a pretty spring day and simply walk down the street?

Mary Beth I love your idea of everyone being out there "literally" protesting au femme.
In Australia our Health system isn't too bad its mostly free for seniors in the Public Health system and Private health schemes are reasonable and again most medication is Government subsidised.
Myself so far its just Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (enlarged prostate) which makes me pee a lot and dribble after  :(
Hope everyone is as well as they can be.

jeangurl; FLOWMAX/TAMSULOSIN is a FANTASTIC drug to treat BPH. I was hospitalized for my BPH being so bad it blocked urine flow. After a year my PSA has dropped below 10 (normal <4), but <10 for me is fantastic. If you can get it "down under" it is fantastic.

Thanks Gunrunner Actually I was on Flomax some 10 years ago and it was quite expensive even here but the Doctor took me off it because of side effects.

I might inquire about it again because it or something similar may now be on the Government list and be subsidised.

I have to go piss about every 60-90 minutes no matter how much or how little fluids I drank. And after I'm done, no matter how much I shake it, squeeze it, or dance a few dribbles still come out into my pants when I put it back in.

I've resorted to cupping a piece of paper towels over it when I tuck it back in to absorb the spillage. It's not a lot of dribble so the paper towels seem to avoid damp panties or a drop showing through the pants.

I stocked up on lots of cheap extra underwear so I can change them more often too.

Fortunately when I'm laying around & not moving around I may not have to go for about 4 hours, so I can sleep a while. But when I wake up, it's a real emergency to go right away. That's rough, because when I first wake up or most mornings is when my COPD is at its worse. So I'm gasping for air, as I'm trying to run to the bathroom desperately, just barely able to hold my piss & make it there in time.

Never fails. By the time I'm done, catch my breath, make it back, rest, catch my breath again, suddenly I have to go poo real bad too & have to make the whole desperate trip again while trying to hold it in & gasping for air.

Yes I hear you Betty, it's an awful welcome to old age. I started having problems in my middle fifties sometimes needing to stop and find a bathroom while out shopping or on a trip. I signed up on Powder Room to find safe clean bathrooms when I was traveling. I have to go for a Cysto-scopy next week to see if there are any problems causing my night time wetting. Mostly I think if I fall into a deep sleep I don't feel the urge to go and just flood my diaper or pull up so I wake up often soaking wet and needing to change in the early morning. I also have the same problem after going and leaving the bathroom to find I am dribbling almost right away. Get's a bit annoying even if I don't mind the diapers and plastic pants routine at night. I don't get short of breath running to the Loo but I do get up too fast sometimes and get dizzy for a few minutes.

Ah, that "last drop" problem! Believe me, it's not just older guys who have it (although I can attest that it gets a lot worse with age) -- I've suffered with it since my teens or earlier.  Not to make light of a touchy subject, but as my daddy once told me (literally -- he really did tell me this):

You can wag it, you can shake it,
You can bang it on the wall...
But until you get it in your pants,
The Last Drop Won't Fall!

Love the little poem Robyn Jodie, I have not heard that before but I have had that problem for quite awhile. I found that wearing lycra panties or panty girdles helped hold it up so it didn't drip but as I get older it is starting to make up it's own mind. I have always sat to pee (like the girl I am) and no matter how long I sit there, the minute I get up another drop appears. I feel I am being mocked by my own bladder.

All nice replies and I can see lots have the dribble problem. I find I awake almost exactly 90 minute intervals for a pee so disturbed sleep is a problem I cant do much about as for daytime dribbles and the last drop Tena panty liners look after that and feel nice too  ;D ;D
