Interesting TV series ..
« on: December 29, 2020, 03:02:03 AM »
Hey everyone, hope your festivities went well in spite of the pandemic.
I happened across this TV series which has echoes of Miss Gentibelle (at least the forced female upbringing by mother, part).
Good news, all 17 parts are available, bad news, it's Thai! Good news, there are English subs, bad news, only parts 1 to 6 subs worked for me.
Betty, any idea why the .ts files for 1 to 6 have subs but the .mp4 7 to 17 do not appear on my download, but do appear if streaming? BTW, I couldn't choose which file type, they seemed to be the only ones available for the respective parts.

Anyhow, bit of a synopsis from an unrelated site:
from mydramalist.com:
"This is a story of two twins, Kwanma, who is biologically a female, and Kwanoei, who is biologically a male but was forced by their mother to hide his true gender and live his life as a woman instead. However, both twins fall in love with the same man named Neua Mek.
(Source: Soju at MyDramaList) "

Now the dload link:

https://www.nekomeowmeow.com/shadowoflove/

PS it's called shadow of love or ซ่อนเงารัก if you're multilingual!

Enjoy, if anyone can help me with the subtitles on 7 to 17 I'd appreciate it.

I see a link to stream, but not to download it anywhere. What's the trick? I even tried searching the original title, "Sorn Ngao Rak" (AKA "Shadow of Heart", & "Sorn Ngao Ruk"). Could not get it to stream in any of my browsers either (Waterfox, Firefox ESR, Pale Moon, & Vivaldi) except with the Iridium browser (Chromium based).

I see the site says it only supports Google Chrome & IE, which are some of the last browsers one would use, if they knew anything about computers, the internet, privacy, & security. Indeed, I had to shut off my security & ad blockrers to get it to stream on Iridium. I used a secondary computer with nothing on it, in case it catches something. I even had to shut off my firewalls on it to get the stream to play.

Mmmm, not sure. But I do use chrome so ....

I downloaded via IDM (Internet Download Manager). It gives you a list of the available formats to download. The first 6 were .ts but the last of them were only .mp4 with no options for .srt subtitle files.

I could upload to a share site if you wanted? G drive?

Thanks anyway for looking Betty.

P.S. Happy New Year, hope this year is better than last .... although I have my doubts!

I found another source. After watching the first episode I wanted to see more. Converted & compressed them for web use, & am currently uploading them to my pCloud drive. My DSL connection is only around 7mbs downloading on  good day & 750kbs (0.750mbs) uploading, so this is gonna take a while.

Wow, all 17 episodes were around 90 minutes long. It's gonna take some time to watch them all. It's hard to watch when you have to keep your eyes glued to the screen the whole time to read the subtitles or you'll miss too much. I actually know a little bit of Thai, but not enough to follow the movie without subtitles.

A lot of my TV viewing is in the background or on a second screen while I'm busy doing something else. So I'm multi-tasking, while catching a show, & getting something done too. It has to be a special show or movie for me to sit down & just do nothing but just watch... even then, I'm probably eating, or petting & playing with the cats at the same time.

I had a heck of a time finding episode 17 with subtitles, or one with subs that was the full episode. There's a lot with subs where the episode was cut to only 10 minutes long. But after getting 16 of them fine, I became stubborn about it, & wouldn't give up until I found a full episode 17 with subs.

I'll probably be posting them in our TV section in a few hours or tomorrow.

Renewal of my G-drive account was due on the 23rd. I canceled their ass for being unreliable (especially around every holiday when I need it the most), & mucking up my video streams way too much. Although I put a lot of 360p video on it, suddenly it would only stream my 480p & 720p videos at only 360p. I'm paying for the space, & didn't exceed my bandwidth limits I pay for, so I should be able to use the space & bandwidth that I pay for the way I want to. I need my dazzling sci-fi & dramatic nature scenes to stream in 480-720p. And they compress stuff I already compressed well, making it look like crap.

I'm on pCloud in Switzerland now instead. More privacy & security with them too. Apple's Safari browser refuses to accept streams from them but it streams on every other browser fine. Safari will download the material though, so you can save to play later right on your device. You should have more than one browser installed on your devices anyway... even if it's an Apple.

Sorry for delays. I've been a little tied up with stuff, plus the usual health issues. Still working on putting stuff on the new pCloud service after dumping google drive for poor, slow, unreliable service, & turning all my video streams to highly compressed 360p.

I've added the entire series with subtitles to my new cloud drive. The link is in the TV section of our private viewing area for members only.

At almost 1 1/2 hours per episode, it will take a while to watch all 17 of them. I'm up to episode 2, but did see clips of every episode to check quality after the conversion & compression process.

I decided to use lower quality on these long episodes to save space & bandwidth because there wasn't anything visually dazzling in these like cool special effects or breathtaking scenes. The quality of my source the series wasn't good anyway. It doesn't look very good with your nose up close to a big TV, but if you sit back 6 feet (2 meters) or more from a big screen, or watch on a smaller laptop or tablet, it looks good enough.

I usually use higher quality on stuff with amazing special effects in sci-fi, or cool nature scenes. For instance, in the sci-fi section, you'll find the original Star Trek series in DVD quality, & in widescreen.

The 2017 film "Kedi", about cats in Istanbul, most of ST Discovery - Season 3, & many other videos are in HD.

On stuff where it's just people sitting or standing around a lot talking, & comedies, I used quality just a little better than VHS tape to save resources for the dazzling stuff.

The more you give,

the more I can give back.
