Boy gets teased for wearing a pink headband
« on: August 04, 2013, 02:24:28 PM »
What happened when a 2 year old boy wore a pink headband to Walmart.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/katie-vyktoriah/what-happened-when-my-son-wore-a-pink-headband-to-walmart_b_3696113.html

Unfortunately the story seems a little suspicious the way it was written, & may have been embellished at least a little. The description of the guy, 2 old birds, nobody comforting her, & pix of the kid, with no pix of the guy, old birds, or the girls raises questions.

I suspect a couple girls giggled, & a guy gave an un-approving look, & that gave her a theme for a story to get a lot of clicks.

Katie, is a blogger with kids who apparently suffers from Munchausen-by-drama, has had a crazy life. Sounding like the first 30 minutes of any “Final Destination” film combined with a Lifetime movie, she claims her existence has been peppered with near death experiences – by trainwreck, plane crash, almost being in NYC during 9/11 – and also claims to be a victim of a kidnapping.

Well I hope it's not true as it was a very disturbing story. In fiction, someone like Jack Reacher would have stepped out and straightened out the bad guy. I think that's why books like the Reacher novels are so enjoyable, they're completely cathartic, the bad guys, who usually end up dead, aren't just bad, they are the lowest of the low, beyond redemption who certainly deserve to be dead.

The blog went viral. It's all over Facebook too. Unfortunately upon further investigation, it appears the lady writes for drama, not for truth. After reading her past stuff, it's not just for page clicks, but it turns out she's a real fruitcake too.

Sadly everyone keeps forwarding the link around, & circulating it on Facebook as a shocking true story. It's even been on some of the major news & media. Red flags went up as soon as I first read the story. It didn't quite add up & looked suspicious to me. So I asked questions & investigated further.

Now I know how the wrong people keep getting elected, & why con-artists are so successful. Everybody seems to believe a shocking or dramatic story. Nobody asks questions or looks no further than what's placed in front of them.

Not everything on the internet or on facebook is the truth folks, & just because the news picks up on the story doesn't make it more credible.

On Facebook, except for advertisers, promoters, & people out for lots of page clicks, & page "likes/shares" for all sorts of reasons, it's mostly full of gossiping people & their friends. They love a juicy or dramatic story, or quick joke & cartoon. It is not a reliable source of information, or a reliable source about the person. It's for entertainment purposes & not real. It's all about getting lots of FB friends, clicks, likes, & shares.

As soon as you said Huffington post I had my suspicions it was phoney, I have heard other stories they were at the root of what turned out to be completely bunk.
