OK people. It has come to my attention that when I post a gallery or add to one, about half the people interested in that gallery (and this one) are just visiting the last page of that gallery, just to see the newest stuff, & ignore the previous pages until long after, when they decide to re-visit the thread.

More often than not, when I post a gallery or add to one, I've put up dozens to hundreds of pix within an hour. So if you just visit just the last page of the thread, you've missed much more than half the newest pictures. This latest picture update is on the last 3 pages of this thread... not just on the last page. My galleries, & their updates fill several pages of a thread.

Also if you skip the beginning of the last picture updates, & only go to the end of it, you've missed the best quality, highest resolution pictures. When I start or add to a gallery, most of them are sorted with most of the highest resolution images first. So by skipping to the last page of a gallery without checking for new pix on the previous few pages of a thread, you've missed the good stuff.

This last update is on the last 3 pages, not just the last page of this thread. I had added 78 pictures to this gallery in under an hour. Many of you missed more than half the newest pix & best stuff that I just put up by just visiting just the last page of this gallery.

You're probably assuming you've already seen the previous pages, but you're wrong. For a gallery, & it's updates, I usually put up many pix all at once. So the pages just before the last page also contain new stuff.

Too put it simple, the last bunch of pix that I just put up on this gallery on Feb. 7th, start about just past halfway down page 6 of this thread, continue all the way through page 7, & finish here on page 8. I prep, process, compress, & resize all of them ahead of time, so when they're ready, I put up a shitload of pix on the galleries all at once, within an hour.

If I'm not mistaken, the first picture of the Feb 2 post was an actress playing Little Lord Fauntleroy in a stage production.

Regarding the style, I think it's hard for people today to understand what an impact the book "Little Lord Fauntleroy" had on society.  As one historian of costume put it, "Mothers inflicted on their two-fisted sons of eight, ten, or even older, that sweet hero's pseudo-Stuart getup of curls, lace collar and velvet..."

Yep. There's a few that are of the same girl. She played the role for several years, & even appeared on the book cover or inside several books of the story. But you're mistaken, The first pic of Feb 2 (the boy in blue) is a boy (post 76, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (71).jpg). It's a cropped image of a recent wedding party. I believe you're referring to post 77, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (75).jpg, in the next post.

I believe she's also the same girl in Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (87).jpg, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (94).jpg, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (96).jpg, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (49).JPG, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (8).jpg, Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (16).jpg, & Fauntleroy_Paige_Boy (18).jpg.

Just like Peter Pan, many of the stage productions & films cast a woman or girl in the lead role. I guess some directors & producers just couldn't bring themselves to dress a boy like that... even at a time when it wasn't too uncommon to dress boys in such attire.

There were many Peter Pan & Fauntleroy films made that we never saw, because some of them never gained popularity or they were lost over time. More often than not, a woman or girl played the lead role.

I was cast as an elf in tights (with a funny hat & shoes with bells on them) several times in school plays because I was the smallest kid in school. Nobody ever gave a second thought about it not being proper, or it being wrong to regularly be cast in the role as an elf just because I was born premature & small back then. It was just that every time there was a play with an elf in it, they all voted to have little johnny play the role because he was so tiny & cute. In the 5th grade (skipped the 4th grade & started kindergarten when I was 4) I refused to do it anymore, thus ending my acting career at 8 y/o.

Interestingly by that time I liked to put on tights, but I didn't want to get bullied & beat up about it, so kept it a secret. At 7 I secretly tried on my first dress when nobody was around. It was a pretty red & blue sailor dress with puffed sleeves. I even got to put on matching red tights with it. I almost fell over when I looked in  the mirror because it was beautiful, & I looked so cute in it. At 7, it was the most exciting day of my life up to that time. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I still like red dresses & tights because of that, but I have some white, & pink ones too. As an elf, I wore green. Never did find a cute frilly sailor dress like that first one anywhere... not even something close. Can't even find pictures of one like it. They don't make them like that anymore.

Like Betty I was often chosen to be the girl in school plays as I was at An all Boys School and I was also quite small and probably feminine (or effeminate) in appearance.
The first time I was terrified as I had actually to be kissed by a boy and when the Hall was filled with wolf whistles and cat calls I dreaded the worst post play and at school.
Actually it turned out quite nice a lot of the senior boys started to treat me as a girl and were very nice to me and the younger ones followed suit.
This went on for several Terms then I started to grow and became more boyish in appearance but I had picked up some girlish manners by then which I found difficult to shed.

I forced myself to play Rugby and box which changed me and my behaviour somewhat.

Still nice memories  :-*

Hey Betty,
I was sure these pics were of Ricky Schroeder in the 1980 TV movie Little Lord Fauntleroy with Alec Guiness. I googled it and it looks like the same boy to me am I wrong?

Yep all of the Feb 7th pix are from that film. See down past halfway through page 6 of this thread to see the beginning of the Feb 7th pix.

He's one of the few actors featured in 2 different galleries here. Unlike YCDTOTV which spanned many years of the same show, with many actors, He is featured here in a show & a movie.

The film was produced for TV by the Hallmark channel, but was also distributed to movie theaters in Europe in several languages, before it was shown on European TV. That's why a very clear widescreen version of it exists. It was produced with the intention of being shown in theaters as well as TV. It was produced on a small TV studio budget by a small cable channel rather than a big movie budget, so wasn't exactly an award winner. But it did much better & became more popular than the channel ever expected.

Not exactly the frilliest, prettiest Fauntleroy or old style I've seen, but is made cuter with his long blond paige boy hairstyle. Also to his credit, didn't he do a better acting job than you've seen others play the Fauntleroy role? I thought his acting in the film was very convincing & natural... amazing acting for a kid that age.

Although he was a known child actor before this film, this is the one that made him real famous. Many say it was his best performance of his career. Although he performed well in other films, the other films were poorly written or directed, so didn't get as popular. He won a Golden Globe award  for the film he was in just the year before, The Champ, but got more public recognition for his Lord Fauntleroy role.

Seriously, even the TV show "Silver Spoons" was a pretty crappy show... even for a 1980s show. But it wasn't Ricky's fault, it was the writers & producer's fault for putting out such garbage.

He continues to act, direct, & write for films & TV shows today. He's been married for over a couple decades now with 4 children.

You're right -- I meant the first on on "reply #77".  I didn't see that there was an earlier Feb 2 post.
