My new copy of it at 525p, is only slightly better than my old copy at 480p. 525p is the true scaling of the blu-ray version. They just scaled up the output to 700 & 1050p for blu-ray, so they can charge you lots of money for it, but it's still only 525p of information. I suspect what they did was rather than re-digitize to original film to blu-ray HD quality, they took the European, PAL 525p DVD of it & just scaled it up to HDTV. USA NTSC DVDs are only 360-480p & the loss in quality is noticeable compared to true full resolution 525p PAL DVDs.
With my enhancing, that slight improvement can be made even better.
Captures where the subject is only taking up a small portion of the screen, where she's only a couple hundred pixels high in the screen still don't look great, & only slightly improved. But those close-ups where she's filling up almost the whole screen at 360-525p tall look nice. However, where's there's motion in the scene, there's motion blur, that may even be present on the original film. In digital forms that motion also causes pixelation, defects, or digital artifacts to show up on the still frame. So in images where she was moving around, it didn't come out very well either.
Sorry for the delays in posting stuff. My brother in the hospital has had some setbacks, but nothing life-threatening anymore. A friend is also in the hospital. He'll be OK in about a month or so. But while in the hospital, he lost his ability to pay his rent, & there's nobody to take care of his dog. He will still have his job when he gets better because they like him there, but he's already used up all his sick time & benefits. His house is over 20 miles away & I sold my vehicle after the fire, so can't care for the dog. With 2 cats in a very small apartment the dog can't stay with me either. He wasn't born in the USA, so the only family he has here is a cousin. After his cousin found out he was gay, they won't talk to him anymore.
Anywho, between trying to keep him from losing his apartment, getting people to care for his dog, & having 2 people close to me very sick in the hospital, it consumed a lot of my time.
And with only 3 donations to Betty's this month, I'm in enough trouble of my own anyway. I had to borrow money just to get enough of my rent together to pay it yesterday. It was due Feb. 1. So it's already due again in less than a week. I had to use my credit card which is almost maxed out to pay other bills too (like my DSL connection). So I'll be even more in debt next month again. I've resorted to doing any work I can find that I could do at any low price (way below minimum wage), just to get more funds flowing in. After all the time, effort, & money spent (parts, supplies, etc), on these jobs, I'm only making a dollar or 2 an hour on most of them.
Will be posting more cool stuff soon. In the meantime, please donate people! That way I can afford to spend more time here, instead of working all day & night for pocket change, or spending days trying to get more work.
