Hello everybody and welcome back to My Weekly Flickr.
A rather nice day on the whole, albeit still only 40 degrees in the morning when I awoke. I’d really like to turn my boiler off.
It was my week to visit my ancient Aunt and it was a long ride out; my bus was late and full. I wound up sitting on the bench in the back, something I try to avoid. I also try not to stand, especially since I’m not quite as steady as I used to be. The reading lights weren't on, which is annoying, and I was surprised when the young man sitting next to me took out his cell phone and turned it into the kind of light that miners wear on their helmets. That's a trick I had never seen. The Lincoln tunnel was crowded and I got into the Port Authority 20 or 30 minutes later than normal. I just missed the subway train and it ran local. My Aunt who continues to amaze and confound me commented that I had made good time. I let it go.
On the way home I took the subway down to 14th Street to buy almonds at Trader's Joes. It was mobbed. The line pretty much went around the store. This is also the first time I've gone there where I asked if it was the express line and was told there was no express, just two lines. Although the line I got on seemed to have mostly people with just a few items. It's remarkable that it actually went very quickly. My nuts were 4.99 a pound and I bought two bags. I handed the cashier a ten dollar bill and 3 pennies. As she looked at the register telling her to give me back a nickel she appeared to think it was magic.
I walked back over to 8th Avenue and took the C train to the Port Authority. I had to stand. At one point I was transferring my bags and reached for the pole and stumbled and a very nice young man grabbed my arm and steadied me. I thanked him. At the Port Authority the platforms for the buses were moved around again and when I got to the platform the bus was late. It finally came and when I got off in my town, before I could cross the street, it made the turn. Then before I could cross the street again, another bus made the turn. Two buses in a row is never a good sign and a good indication of what had happened to the schedule..
I got home at 2PM and on the whole felt like I had been on a Hadj.
Well, now that that is out of the way let’s see who is entertaining us at the Flickrs.
