We already ran the movie "Your Name" with English subtitles in our movie section in autumn for about a month in our movie section. The article makes it sound like it just came out this month, but it was released almost a year ago in limited showings & film festivals. It made it to a few mainstream theaters when it got the attention of Jeangurl & she posted about it here.
http://buffalobetties.com/sissies/index.php?topic=1109So I got the screener/festival version of it to run. It was hard-coded with English & Chinese subtitles, with a screener ID number in the corner of the screen, so I chopped off the bottom of it where it was just full of Chinese subtitles. I've got the theatrical release now. Maybe I can re-run it a third time
This is probably a re-release. It was originally released under the titles "My Name is" or "Kimi No Na Wa" & "My Name is Kimi No Na Wa", then later, "Your Name".
It was so popular, I re-compressed it into a smaller size to save space on my free google drive (we're using the bigger pay version of that now folks -- so donate), so I could re-run it at our movie section the following month too.
Beware, I read that the version dubbed into English sucks compared to the original Japanese one with English subtitles.
Betty's doesn't just run old stuff, but sometimes new, unreleased, or rare stuff unavailable to the general public, or unavailable to some countries. That's one of the advantages of a free "private screening" movie section that's not available to the general public. It gives me the permission or ability to play stuff that other public or pay per view sites & services can't.
But some of the rare, new, or pre-screener versions are not posted about about in our main sections. One actually has to check our movie section once in a while to see when they're available. Screener or pre-screener versions of movies that aren't publicly available in the USA for months or a year, may only be available for just 1-4 days before they are deleted from our movie section. Those rare or "unavailable" & pre-screener/reviewer versions, are almost never posted about at the top of our main boards.
